New homebrew PSP shmup: Time Of War for FW 1.50 PSP

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

Just recently, a homebrew PSP developement team has been working on a shmup title for the firmware endowed 1.50 PSPs (or higher up FW PSPs running eloader or eboot) called T.O.W. or in short for: Time Of War. I am in no way affiliated with this PSP dev team nor did I do any beta-testing of this particular PSP shmup but am merely pointing this new PSP shmup title out for the shmup community to try out on their PSP hardware... ^_~

It is a isometric-based side scrolling shmup title (in the same vein as Zaxxon but without the innovative illusion of depth of the latter). Bullets are hard to see and need to be colored differently to differentiate from the background scenery.

T.O.W. does have the "old school" life-bar gauge for each life -- if it gets down to "zero", you'll lose a life. It seems to be alright for this type of shmup gaming enviroment that is T.O.W.

I personally don't see any power-ups of any kind -- needs to implemented pronto...

Should either stick with Tate or yoko mode for the tried and true shmup gamplay and feel (not with the awkward isometric viewpoint)...seems to me that a lot of major work needs to be done in order for T.O.W. to be as polished as say the professionally done Callisto or R-Gear PSP homebrew based shmup titles (just my two cents here)...

No end-stage bosses yet but the developement team says that they're working on it and plan to include it in a future updated release of T.O.W.

Here's the link to d/l it for your PSP:

Thanks for pointing this out, didn't come to try the game yet, but I probably will tomorrow. Looks like shit, though...

Don't really have high hopes for it by the looks of it :(
And I've played some pretty bad psp homebrew games too.
