Batsugun sound, your opinions please

Post by thesuperkillerxxx »

Beings as I have only played it on mame without sound, how does this game stack up to the others in its era? How are the sound effects? Any goofy voices?

Well, there's muffled voices when you select your plane. Nothing in sound effects that I remember. Music is IMO great, in that synthesized JP videogame pop/jazz tune sort of way. Really fits the soothing and easy mood of the game, esp. stage 2's tune.

On the Saturn version you can choose from an "original" or "arranged" soundtrack: the first is definitely "oldschool," in that it's all old-fashioned and fairly standard (though not bad) synthesized stuff, while the latter adds a few more unique touches to differentiate the tracks a bit better, and give them a bit more "personality." Overall the music is good in my opinion, though I personally prefer the arranged soundtrack.

I prefer the original music. But it was a nice touch to add the option for the arranged tracks for the Saturn. I really enjoy "Complimentary Ticket" (Stage 4)

This and Garegga are the reasons to own a Saturn.\

edit: yes, it has great sound :P

Saturn doesn't have mame's scummy graphical glitches with it either.

Same here. It's cleaner and less harsh sounding than the arcade version; that's all I noticed. Sort of like Battle Garegga's more dramatic and crisper arrange tracks.

its a great game, no doubt about that, but i found the music pretty crappy to be honest.

The credit music is hilarious though. Check out a vid of it on my site....

Actually, now i re-read the review I did, I think I was being a bit harsh about the game in general it's one of my faves now

The "arranged" soundtrack is superb.

Arranged soundtrack is much better in quality... Although I prefer the original Stage 5 track, which they ruined in the Arranged.

Come to think about it, I like the Original better. Overall, the music is not too great...
