The PS2 port of Ibara is getting expensive and hard to find.
Should I get it before it gets even harder to find? With my graduation coming up, I should have more than enough to get it. Or should I spend the money on other ps2 shmups? I have also had my eye on DDP DOJ, ESPgaluda, and Mushi for a while.

Ibara thread
There is some at Play-Asia. There is discussion in the above thread.
I am feel that this title may be hard to find before long and will not see shock if it is to sell for $100.

If you are dedicated console personMilkgoat wrote:Should I get it before it gets even harder to find? With my graduation coming up, I should have more than enough to get it. Or should I spend the money on other ps2 shmups? I have also had my eye on DDP DOJ, ESPgaluda, and Mushi for a while.
The highbrows will shit all over Ibara and Mushi but they are fine games I am not cool enough to play PCB but what ever.
All are good games. Ibara is getting hard to find. Mushi is have "the best" re-release so easy and cheap to find. Arika games are seem to be in well supply - but shop around for those two. They can be had for better price with patience.

Get 2 of Ibara then burn one so it becomes more rare!!!! .....and you'll still have one!!!
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

The thing is I can't knowktownhero wrote:What's so bad about the PS2 port?
I am not highbrow enough to play a pcb of the game.
The game is perfectly fine for folks like myself. Some people are pure anal about some things and thus the 'port' to the PlayStation 2 is 'broken' when compare to 'original' material.

The same game costed some other sucker $500-$1000 more than what you paid.ktownhero wrote:What's so bad about the PS2 port?
*...and what Fighter 17 said.
Is the port harder or easier than the PCB because of this? Just curious....If the port is the harder one i'd think i'd be much better off conquering that one.

I thought there was supposed to be less.Fighter17 wrote:More slowdown than PCB.
I think Dave K. posted side-by-side pictures for comparison some time back...there is a difference, but not enough for me personally to make a big deal about it, I still think the game looks good (and more importantly the [playability isn't affected at all).Filtered graphics (everything looks blurrrrrry).

Mushi - More slowdown, especially in Arrange, and not the nice gradual type either. The really annoying stuttery type.BulletMagnet wrote:I coulda sworn that a bunch of people said that there was less slowdown on the port than on the PCB - the same complaint was made about the Mushi port.
Ibara - Virtually no slowdown at all. Very noticeable during usually slowdown-ridden parts such as the st3 triple train section, or during hadou milking with Kasumi and Teresa.

Yep, interlaced picture on the PS2 port v.s. non-interlaced on the PCB means some graphic shearing during high motion sequences, and of course a slight blur due to the field merging. I agree with BulletMagnet, if you are playing on a regular TV, its not a big deal. The gameplay is whats important, and is completely awsome. I own both PCB and port, due to the ps2 practice options and arrange mode.BulletMagnet wrote:Fighter17 wrote:I think Dave K. posted side-by-side pictures for comparison some time back...there is a difference, but not enough for me personally to make a big deal about it, I still think the game looks good (and more importantly the [playability isn't affected at all).Filtered graphics (everything looks blurrrrrry).

Play Maniac... stage 3 & 5 particularly. The litle slowdown that is there is the stutter type, but there is far less than found on the PCB.Icarus wrote:Mushi - More slowdown, especially in Arrange, and not the nice gradual type either. The really annoying stuttery type.

I played the PS2 version before. Looked so bad with the filtered graphics I said "screw it" and didn't touch it again. Well at least it was a cough backup cough. Then again that could explain some extra slowdown in certain areas. Or could it be that my PS2 is about to fall apart.shinsage wrote:hahaha, nope.iatneH wrote:Has Fighter17 played either PS2 or PCB versions?
Just more regurgitation of what others have said to feel like one of the big boys.
They are more than enough videos of Ibara from the PCB version to make a point.
