Geki-Oh Shooting King: Shienryu ... confused about versions!

Post by visuatrox »

So I'm planning on buying a few more games, and I'm confused about all these Shienryu games.

Geki-Oh Shooting King: Shienryu (PSX)
Arcade Hits: Shienryu (Major Wave) (PSX)
Simple 2000 Series Vol. 37: The Shooting - Double Shienryu (PS2)

(japanese versions)

So the Shienryu in the double pack, is it the same game as Geki-Oh and Shienryu?. Or is Geki-Oh Shooting King a different game?. :?: :?

These are all the same game. I have only actually played the Saturn Shienryu and the PSX Gekioh, but I have been informed that the double pack includes this very same, fun game.

There is also a game called Gatchaman the Shooting, also developed by Warashi, for PSX, but I have not heard much about it.

I don't know about the arcade hits one, but gekioh has no tate, which is enough reason to avoid. Go for the double one if you can so you can get the bonus 'shienryu explosions', although I don't particularly care for it, others here do and it has recently been reviewed. Given it should be just as cheap as the others there is no reason to avoid unless you can't play import ps2 games.

Thanks for the information,

But is the information on this site incorrect then?

http://namakoteam.com/exportwatch/

"Gekioh is a Playstation port/remix of the Saturn and ST-V shooter Shienryu. It features extra modes that change the game around to fit themes, like horror and comedy."

Are those extra modes also avaible in the doublepack version?

You want a laugh track every time you die?

Thanks again everyone, this thread saved me $30 :). I just now cancelled my Gekioh order, I had previously thought that it was some kind of a sequel or complete remake.. But now hearing that the only difference is some modes that stink, I can save my money for Mushi Soundtrack instead :P

And if you care, Arcade Hits Shienryu is the same as Gekioh but featured at a budget price with a reworked logo. And the US Gekioh is the same as the JP one.
