Converting a PSX pad into arcade controls for DC Agetec

Post by Smithy »

This is a bit odd, but does anyone have a good guide for replacing the innards of a DC arcade stick with a PSX pad, so I can use it on my PS2? I know it can be done, I just want to find a good guide to do so - thanks!

get a PS1 pad or a PS2 Atomic pad, nothing else!

It's simple : connect the 2 wires to a button and you're done. Just google, there are plenty examples!

The other pads have 3 wires for each button - you can use them in a stick (that's what I've done) but it's not straightforward...

Is there any other pad that is good to use, as those seem a bit hard to come by, I can only find them on non-english sites :(

Fl0w mentioned a PS1 pad; I'm guessing that these would be as decent as that Atomic pad. Iatneh also mentioned in a previous thread that the PS1 controller marked as being made in China with an "H" designation on the back, tends to have a good manufacturing process for making an adapter or modifying a stick:
iatneH wrote:The controller I made my adaptor from is a "Made in China" one, and has the letter H above China.
One of my other controllers is Made in China and also has the letter H, I opened it up and it's the good easily hackable PCB.
A different Made in China controller has the letter M above China, and the PCB inside is not easy to hack like the China H controller.
Finally, I have a Made in Phillipines controller with no additional letter; the PCB also lacks the easy solder points.

So, what to look out for is the controller whose back looks like this (sorry, I don't have a camera with me):

Code: Select all

SONY(R)

CONTROLLER
Sony Computer
Entertainment Inc. H
------------------------
SCPH-1080 MADE IN CHINA
There's also a nice thread in here with a lot of different information, called "Another DC/Sanwa modded stick."

There are some others as well, if you take a look! I couldn't remember where the above ones were, so I had to run a quick search for them. 8)
