Shikigami No Shiro III
With both one and two getting home ports, is there any chance that the 3rd will be ported? Is there a reason if not? Thanks

Go download the free demo and try it out:RaidenIII wrote:Ahh yes, a person i know has it,(NTSC Forum) i forgot about that.
But i don't really want to play it on a crappy laptop with rubbish screen, if this thing would run it anyway!
No chance of a console port?
Thank you.

It actually runs on my machine really well in windowed 480x640 mode (and I don't exactly have the most powerful graphics card on the market).

I just got the PC version, and I'm having trouble getting it to run on my computers:
1) Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook (Intel duo core 1.83 GHz, 1 GB ram, Windows XP)
2) Emachines (AMD Athlon 2.0 GHz, 1 GB ram, Windows XP)
When I put in the CD, everything comes up in Japanese, but there aren't exactly a whole lot of options (one for installing the shiki3.exe program, one for installing DirectX, and one for exiting). I installed everything, but when I try to start the game by double clicking the shiki3.exe icon, NOTHING happens.
If anyone has purchased the SnS III PC CD-ROM, how exactly did you get it to run? Is there some difference between US and Japanese PC's that's the cause of the problem?

Try Microsoft AppLocale to run the program under Japanese. This works for installing/running the demo's I've tried. You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspxcl25 wrote:I just got the PC version, and I'm having trouble getting it to run on my computers:

You know, brand new Galuda 2 kits are as cheap as they're ever going to be now (about $550 from Fujita). That's much cheaper than a plane ticket to Japan.icycalm wrote: Not like with fucking Cave. I've been away from Japan for a while now and I have a real urge to play Ketsui and Galuda II. But alas...
And with no port, expect Galuda 2 kits to be commanding Ketsui kit prices ($1000+) in a few years.

Hmmm, I don't know about that. I get the impression that a lot more Galuda 2 borads were made. I've got no hard figures of course...TWE wrote:And with no port, expect Galuda 2 kits to be commanding Ketsui kit prices ($1000+) in a few years.

They made a ton of Ketsui boards as well. They're everywhere in Japan and loads of foreigners have one. Excellent was selling brand new Ketsui kits for about $225 a few years back, right before the kits sold out. It's just a case of Radiant Silvergun syndrome: not a rare game, but a game very much in demand, so the price skyrockets.icycalm wrote: Hmmm, I don't know about that. So it would've been better to have snagged a brand new Ketsui PCB kit at that price then -- anyone have a time machine that I can borrow? ^_~TWE wrote:They made a ton of Ketsui boards as well. I ran the installer via AppLocale to be on the safe side, but I'm not sure it's even necessary. I didn't bother using AppLocale to run the game after installation, and haven't noticed any problems.cl25 wrote:I installed everything, but when I try to start the game by double clicking the shiki3.exe icon, NOTHING happens.
Just in case - are you sure nothing happens? Have you checked Task Manager when you run the exe? The game uses some obnoxious copy protection (SafeDisc?) that eats 100% CPU for quite a while when you first launch the application. This causes a huge delay in start-up, though it doesn't seem to take as long on subsequent launches, for whatever reason. It also attempts to connect to 131.107.115.28:80 (crl.microsoft.com) on startup. Don't know why, but I've blocked it without apparent ill effects. Still, if you're running a firewall, I guess it might be interfering with it somehow at that point.
Regarding potential ports, isn't Type X nearly a PC running some kind of embedded Windows variant? That'd explain the PC port being relatively easy to put together. It's not much, but an optimistic soul could take this page as suggesting that versions for other platforms have at least been considered.

That page just basically says "here's what we have available for consumers: a PC port". No mention whatsoever about even considering another platform.Veracity wrote: It's not much, but an optimistic soul could take this page as suggesting that versions for other platforms have at least been considered.

Yep, hence 'optimistic soul'. I just meant that, had AlfaSystem intended only a PC port from the start, one might reasonably expect them to have linked straight to its detail page from the main SNS3 site. The way they have it set up looks to me more like it was supposed eventually to accommodate links to other ports. Tenuous as hell, though, to be sure, and even if that was their intention at some stage, there's little point assuming further versions will be forthcoming in the absence of official word.TWE wrote:No mention whatsoever about even considering another platform.
Yes, both ways, if that matters. It also supports 800x600 or 1024x768 resolutions in any orientation, in addition to the default 640x480.pixelcorps wrote:is the retail version of shiki III tate-able?

Works fine with applocale on my machine. Without using this it becomes unresponsive once it reaches the title screen. There was one freeze up when i tried to set it to tate on the first attempt, but afterwards it seems to be fine.
if only i could find a way to rotate my TFT counter-clockwise for all the other shooters that dont tate the correct way for me.

l should have been more clear. I was thinking of when/if I had my dreamcast connected to my TFT and the game only tate's such that the monitor needs to be rotated counter clockwise. (mine only rotates clockwise.)dude just rotate the screen 180 degrees in the display settings of your video card, voila inverse tate!
