Supergun sound problem

I recieved a supergun today and it's a bit iffy with both of my boards (Ibara/Espgaluda II).

I can only get sound by cranking the dial on the board up to a really high level and the sound that I do get is very crackly

Any ideas what it could be?

The only thing I can think of is that it's maybe wired up for MVS instead of standard jamma?

That would explain the bloody test switch not working too

The problem is Cave SH3 boards use stereo sound from the harness which is not JAMMA standard. Whoever made your Supergun wired speaker - to your audio ground instead of regular PCB ground. On SH3 boards the other audio channel is outputted here and then regular ground is used as an audio ground. You can play in mono if you use the board ground for your audio ground which will work for all other JAMMA games too, but you'll need a switch for true stereo.

So the Ibara PCB does output in true stereo sound then?

And is there anyway to hook up a pair of L&R stereo jacks for such stereo output on Ibara PCB?

That's not true. Cave SH3 boards run in mono off of the standard 10+L pins just fine.

Geezer, I think you have some problem with the line level circuit (wiring, connection, etc).

Maybe it's different on some SH3 boards. I have played Galuda II and Mushi 2 and I actually modded my SG again to add the stereo output through the L line.

Geezer, I think you have some problem with the line level circuit (wiring, connection, etc).

That's possible, or a problem with the attenuation circuit if there is one.

If it comes down to you having no way of fixing it Geezer I can take a look at it for you (and most likely fix the problem). That would be sort of a last resort though.

Thanks for all the replies guys

I opened it and it is indeed wired for MVS instead of standard jamma. I just snipped the wire running to L and it's now working fine

Sorry man, not sure what you're smoking but like Oxtsu said no Cave SH3 board has stereo sound, they all have the same mono sound output. I've owned all of them, they're all the same.

Hi,
i recently purchased an Ibara PCB and tried to run it in my E2 Cab, but the sound doesn´t seem to work properly.

I already connected the PCB to an AW-Cab and a MAK/Supergun where everything works fine.

But if i put it in the E2, the only sound i get is hissing/whirring equal to the amount to which i turn up the volume.

Other PCBs work flawlessly on the E2!

Does anybody have an idea?

what exactly is the difference between standard Jamma and MVS wiring?

MVS has left+right audio at 10/L, jamma standard is mono audio and speaker negative (ground) at 10/L.

Thank´s, so I guess this isn´t the problem I have then, as the E2 is wired for mono sound, according to the circuit-plan.

Could voltage issues cause that problem?
