I understand the greatness of Tyrian!!
I downloaded Tyrian 2000 today on our PC, and it's great!
Didn't need DosBox to run it, although I'm not getting any sound, and can't use my P220 on it. But it's still some great old-school fun! Man, we NEED more shmups like this, IMO!

My only problem is sound; I don't know if (or how) I can get the sound to work on it.P_HAT wrote:on my WinXP tyrian2000 work baaad
I really dig the graphical style; reminds me of Amiga games.

That's very observant. It's got a completely different sense of pacing compared to most other shooters. It's slower and focused much more on killing enemies before they fire, rather than dodging bullets once they have fired. I don't think it's a bad game at all.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I think it's a little misunderstood.

I did, and AFIK, it's only for use with DosBox emulator.nZero wrote:Try VDMSound
I've been thinking about downloading DosBox; I know that I'd find it very usefull. BUT, I never used DOS. The last type-in-command PC that I used was the Apple IIe, years ago. Fun computer, but I hated having to type in like 25 commands just to get the thing to print. I don't know if DOS is any easier.

DOSBox is very simple to set up. You don't need to know the ins and outs of DOS to make this EMU run games easily. Go here and follow the guide I made to help you get it up and running. With DOSBox .70 out now (which some nice speed ups), you'll be able to get Tyrian 2000 up and running with full sound, and have everything you'll need to get many other DOS games going.dave4shmups wrote:I did, and AFIK, it's only for use with DosBox emulator.nZero wrote:Try VDMSound
