My first PCB

Post by brianon »

Ok, I am not new to game collecting but have nothing of any 'real' value. Nothing worth more than €80 I guess. I have no PCBs and just have an old arcade cab which I MAME'ed.

I love Cave shmups and would love to own a PCB. Was thinking of buying a Supergun. Anyone any advice ? What to look out for? Recommend a place to buy (that ships to Ireland) ?

Cheers,
Brian.

ESP rade is the best start.

Check the trading forum, at the top there is a thread that says "cut out the middle man"

Thats all you need to know.

Just curious, why do you say that? I've never played it, but got ESP Galuda for PS2 recently. I will be going cab-style within the next year.

Its Cave, its less than £100 in most places, its not been ported to a home system (although it is on mame).

And besides, its an awesome game.

Your alternatives are much more expensive or very hard to find.

Its not a game I can play well on mame though, as I only bother demoing games on the keyboard.

Try to look for the International Ver. of ESP-ra-de PCB...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

If you can source an International Version of ESP*ra*de Jamma PCB, it will be an "all-English" language version and you will be able to understand the story leading up to the "grand finale"... ^_~

Get the original JPN Bios version of ESP*ra*de PCB & it'll be in Japanese kanji script...some shmuppers prefer the original Japanese Bios version of arcade Jamma PCBs over the international versions (of the few Cave PCBs in both versions -- i.e. Donpachi, Dodonpachi, ESP*ra*de)-- is just a matter of personal taste..... ^_~

Don't be fooled by "real value". There are plenty of fantastic games that cost almost nothing. Definitely in comparison to PCBs.

if you like pads rather than joysticks then this guys superguns are basic but cheap as..just plug in a p.c power supply ,some megadrive pads(3or 6button) and a scart lead and your up and running...

http://www.vogatek.com/

if you search for them on ebay they usually go for under £20
.
usually if you email him direct he'll give yuo a cheaper price anyways tho..

After playing some PS2 ports, and then going to mame and testing out some other games... I am now seeing why it is worthwhile to go the PCB route. These PS2 ports look like poop even in tate mode compared to the true glory of a VGA/RGB signal.
