Raiden Fighters Test Settings

Post by Circa2113 »

I wasn't 100% sure where to post this, but I thought this forum would be my best bet...

Sorry if this is a repost, but a search brought me zero results. I'm wondering how to access the settings menu on the original Raiden Fighters? It is an excellent game, and I would like to see all it has to offer. Any information is most appreciated.

By the way, why is the original RF basically ignored? Nine times out of ten, when I see the series discussed, it is about either RF2 or RFJet. :(

Download the manual here:
http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/RaidenFighters.man.pdf
This is in Japanese unfortunetly.
You can dl the Raiden Fighters 2 manual here, which is in English:
http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/Raiden ... s2.man.pdf
Every pcb has a parts side and a solder side.
gently connect pin 15 from the parts side to any grounded pin and it will instantly take you to the test mode. You can do this when the pcb has been powered up.
In the Raiden Fighters 2 and Jet manuals there is mention of being able to flip a dip switch. My board does not have such a dip switch bank, so I just connect ground to pin 15. Good luck
And in the Japanese manual pin 30 is the equivalent to pin 15 in the English manuals. If you're not absolutely sure what you're about to do, ask again. My explanation might just be a tad dodgy.
Be careful in any case. Good luck.

Thanks for all the info, D.

So if I'm using a supergun I'm out of luck?

the flip screen dip is separate from the other dips, very small and kinda hard to find.

For sven666,

Eh, the sandman's got you in his dreamlike trance -- must fight his intoxicating calls to close the ol' eyes for some much needed shuteye...ahhh, it's no use, he's winning and I'm losing -- it's off to 'la-la land' for you and me -- sweet dreams -- ZZZzzzzz..... ^_~

Or how Elvira, (the famous big-boobed horror-genre dame) Mistress of the Dark says it: "Unpleasant dreams!" ^_~

You need to connect pin 15 to any grounded pin.
I suggest you try and clip these into the harness.

Clip them onto where the wires are soldered to the harness.
And like I said before, tell me what you don't understand.
And stop restricting yourself, there's nothing you can't do. Balls up.
But be careful though as you could permanently damage your game if you screw it up. So if you're not comfortable with it leave it alone.
The manuals I pointed you to have the details of the options anyway so there you go.

I would suggest figuring out if your supergun has a test switch before you go prodding the harness...

It does, but seems to have no effect. :(

I suppose I will be performing surgery on the supergun eventually...
