Retro Gamer is one of my favorite gaming magazines, right up there with GamesTM. I wish they weren't so pricey in the US though. I understand the reason, since they're imported and all, but man, $14 is a lot to pay for a <100 page magazine.

Love the cover art, it reminds me of covers that mags like ZZAP!64 had.

That is a nice cover, I'll be looking for a copy in borders tomorrow.

Monkey Island, Metal Slug and Xevious are all old favourites.

I got last months issue with Galaga on the cover just the other day. I've always liked the mag. Someone there has quite an obsession with Bubble Bobble ^.^

Though... wasn't there some incident with a journalist who was doing an article on shmups for Retro and caused a bit of a stir here about a year ago?

I know it's carried at Barnes and Nobles but i don't think i've ever seen one in a Borders. Be ready to spend about 12-14 dollars though.

It's from the UK. I usually get it at Borders, but not every Borders I've been to has it.

I know there are a handful of Phoenix area users on the forum. The Barnes and Nobles on Metro Parkway definetly carries it...

Retro Gamer is a damn good game, IMO. I try to buy it every month and there's usually a good number of decent articles in every issue. Check Barnes and Noble and it's affiliates but they usually only get in a handful of copies.

For any US importers looking for this, keep in mind that we usually get the issues about 4-5 weeks after they come out in Britain. So don't go looking for this issue just yet.

Yup, Indigo seems to have it, at least 'round here anyway.

However, this is proof that Retro Gamer has what it takes. Taken directly from issue 33.

Also, fyi a couple of years ago Retro Gamer did a nice interview with this site's founder malc (in which malc talked about the genre in general and about arcade collecting).

I'm a huge fan of this website (I used to post on here as Strider) and shmups in general, so I always try and mention the site every few months.

My girlfriend five finger discounted me one of these from Barnes and Noble one time. (She was trying to impress me, it worked... hey, I didn't ask her to!) Anyways it was one with the Speccy on the front and it had Super Metroid and Thunderforce V in it. I was really impressed. I'll see if she'll order me a subscription on Amazon :)

That Super Metroid review was brilliant. I'm an absolute zealot, and almost wept with joy as I read through it. *sniff*

It was a real "finally, someone who understands!" moment.

What praytell is that exact issue? I sort of regret not getting the past issues since I began reading but at $18 a pop I wasn't too eager to own them.
