Thanksgiving 2009 update: This game is now playable in MAME, with some minimal graphics glitches (tanks appear parked on top of their hangars in ground-to-ground mode) and score entry doesn't seem to work (please write down what it puts after your score and stage number on the highscore entry screen for curiosity's sake).

There's also a Mega Drive port for all to play! Again, unfortunately, you must quickly look at your score when you lose your last life - the game doesn't bring up a high score entry table, which I had thought was pointless in most console games, but now miss.

RULES:
MAME / PCB DIP switch settings - Start with three lives; one bonus life at 200K only. Autofire discouraged (but I don't think it makes any difference when point-blanking).
Japanese Mega Drive / Sega Genesis settings - don't change difficulty-related settings from defaults. (New rule, 9/6/2015, but everybody probably did this before, I hope.)

It gets pretty nuts when your rank goes up, especially on the ground levels where you don't have the little planes to block for you or your missles.

I think that your high score should be based on how many millions of dollars of aircraft you've destroyed. When you get to the point where you're shooting down squad after squad of stealth bombers, you gotta wonder where all this shit is coming from.

Yeah, they're living well for simple "terrorists," I think.

Also, this game is a pain. Got a score around 970K and had forgotten I needed to look to record it, so I only had a rough idea.

Edit: D'oh, got to the stage 6 boss which is really a pushover but lost all my planes there. 1,282,750 points though.

Annoyingly this was the last time I had chance to pause it before i lost my last life. I actually ended up with 1.4 mill and got to stage 7 boss.

Mediocre score considering I beat the game. That's what I get for sitting still during the ninth stage I suppose. Extraordinary score by the allett. I've no idea how you get this many points even when picking up every single power-up and destroying every enemy.

Scratching my head at my update earlier this year, which somehow still missed some scores added years ago.

Hopefully everything is up to date now!

I've also added the common sense "stick to defaults" rule for the home console version. I hope everybody was already doing this, and trust that was the case. If anybody is interested in different difficulty settings, let me know
