sega cd and 32x games worth getting
I found a system for a good price with five games:
sonic cd
silpheed
the adventures of batman & robin
baseball tonight
mighty morphin power rangers
So what games are worth seeking out?

Lunar: SSS
Lunar: EB
Popful Mail
Dennin Aleste/Robo Aleste
Bari Arm/Android Assault
Final Fight CD
Keio Yuugekitai/Keio Flying Squadron
Heavenly Symphony/F1 Beyond The Limit
Basically exactly what Kiken says, with the addition of Sonic CD, the best Sonic game of all time (get the NTSC-J or PAL version though, because of the superior soundtrack).
Also I'd get the Lunars on Playstation, the whole presentation is just better.
The Sega Classics Arcade Collection is great too, 4 games in 1 and takes up less space than the carts.
Anet Futatabi is a cool, underrated side scrolling beat em up.
My all-time favorite Mega CD game is Keio Flying Squadron. Get this game now, you will love it!

According to Wikipedia, yes. However that is easily remedied by ignoring the remakes and sticking with the originals. (Lunar EB Complete does follow the Sega CD EB faithfully, though.) Which I must say, are pretty darn impressive. The graphics can easily match the SNES, 64 colors and all.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

Everyone here has pretty much covered everything I can think of except Spiderman. It's different from the cart version, & though a bit confusing at first, an interesting game.
As far as Lunar goes, I haven't played the Sega CD originals, but I'm a huge fan of the PSX remakes. I suppose my opinion of the PSX versions would be somewhat skewed if I'd played the SCD originals first, but other than a few questionable translation issues, I truly enjoyed both Lunar games on PSX. In fact, Lunar was the first game to truly make me emotional (aside from getting angry at difficult parts of a game). The only other game I know that evoked that reaction was FF7.

All the Lunars are great, except for the 2 School games.
TSS, when you really look back on it, was fetch quest-after-fetch quest. But then, you get higher quality music, overworld battles, a couple of different dungeons, and Ghaleon's theme. I prefer the remakes though.
The leveling system has been the same in all of the games. WD changed the save system in the SCD EB to use points gained from battle to save, which sorta sucked. But that was removed from the PS EB.

Here are some other personal favorites of mine which have not been mentioned yet:
Rise of the Dragon - it is similar in style to Snatcher sans shooting sceens - a graphic adventure in a dark distant future. Its alot like Blade Runner in theme.
For FMV may I suggest Road Avenger and Time Gal. If not a fan of Dragon's Lair kind of "play" then maybe these won't do, but these 2 Renovation titles are best for this type of game.
Final Fight CD - Its good game better than SNES and 2 can play at the same time!

Kolibri, Star Wars Arcade (the 32x mode is really fun!), Space Harrier, Tempo, and Knuckles Chaotix are all great 32x games.
Bari-Arm and Robo Aleste are both essentials, IMO, for the Sega CD.

I've always said I want a pony. Having a pony would mean I would have everything else I could ever possibly want, and tons of cash to spare. I mean seriously, why the fuck would you want a goddamn pony? Have you ever taken a whiff of a stable? How about all the required maintenance, buying a big yard for it to run around in, etc. You can't even ride the little bastards.
I feel more or less the same about Sega CD, 32x, 3do, cdi, etc.

Sega CD's only give off heat as waste. And black plastic smells good.

We can tell. But that whole pony thing was some surprisingly sensible logic. I want a pony now too.Neon wrote:I have been drinking this evening, how about youuu
I got a 32X, so that's already the first step. It was cheap. Space Harrier was cheap. Kolibri was cheap. And now storing it all in some box in the basement is kind of cheap too, I suppose.
Well aren't you just a happy little gamer?Neon wrote:I've always said I want a pony. Having a pony would mean I would have everything else I could ever possibly want, and tons of cash to spare. I forgot to mention T-Mek; great game.
The Sega CD certainly didn't have the incredible line-up that the Turbo CD had, but there are still plenty of great games. And as far as heat issues go, the top-loading Sega CD unit is extremely durable, (at least according to Matt, who used to do quite a bit of console modding for people on this site.) as is the JVC X'EYE. The 32X also has some great titles; again, not THAT many, but speaking of these two systems as if we're talking about the CD-i or the 3DO is going some.

Come on! How can you not get a kick out of references to Kevin Bacon and Bill Clinton! I love stuff like that coming out of left field. The Coop wrote:The only big complaint I remember reading about concerning the Sega CD version of the second Lunar game, was that Working Designs added a lot of "present day" jokes into their translation. A decent number of reviewers felt it really hindered the game.
