Hi guys hows it going?
Just purchased Samurai Aces and Tengai (PAL) on play.com but I've never actualy played either of them are they any good? More to the point did Gamestreet 505 do a good job porting the games over? All the other stuff I have brought from them is of good quality but you never know because some times companies do have bad days I suppose.

I haven't played the console versions of these games, only the ROMs in mame. I enjoy Tengai. It's a typical Psikyo game - just in hori format.
I dislike Samurai Aces however. It follows the same formula as Gunbird and Sonic Wings in that you can fully powerup, but it wears off and you must re-power up. That and I find the game dull and boring (like Gunbird).

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.

Hey there, I just got 2 game from 505gamestreet as well, Assault Suit Valken and Sol Divide. Assault Suit Valken is just a port from the Snes, the music sucks and add to that, that it's not a real shooter. While Sol Divide isn't that much of a bad game it's pretty poor.Danny wrote:Hi guys hows it going?

ZING!! Sweet that's all I wanted to know. In fact acording from the "PAL Shmups List" post which I can't find atm they both use memory cards and can be displayed in TATE. Anyway should be fun getting these games as well as reciving the complete futurma collection which is nice.zyloj wrote:Samurai aces and Tengai PAL versions have 60Hz selector.Gorecki wrote:I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the port of Tengai when you get it Danny. I've played it in MAME and it's fun, if a little unspectacular. If the port has 60hz I'll probably pick it up.

I liked both Samurai Aces (reached stage 2-5/arcade), and Tengai (reached stage 2-8/arcade). i prefered S.Aces, to Gunbird 1 & 2 which disliked alot. would like to see Psikyo make another horizontal shump. Shame this site doesnt have a link/thread to japanese Game Maker sites, so that shumpers can find out about the latest shumps R&D. (Research and Development)

Might be worth tracking down the Psikyo Programmers though - see if they are still working on shooters for another company?
I guess this happened with Toaplan to Cave and Konami-Gradius to Irem R-Type.
Psikyo's dead, at least in terms of shooters.would like to see Psikyo make another horizontal shump

OK got Tengai today and I have to say that I am impressed. The game is pretty much a perfect port with no loading times inbetween levels since the game loads up the arcade rom at the begging of the game. The packaging is also at the upmost quality just like the other Shmups that Gamestreet have published over the years although the manual is a little lightweight.
Speaking of the game yeah it's good. I like Psikyo's style so I glad that Psikyo decided to implement it on a horizontal Shmup. Even with my limited knowlage of this game I can already tell that this is another great Shmup by Psikyo and would recommend it to anyone.
