Kenta Cho video interview on Mtv News
I've done some work with Mtv news before, and my contact just emailed me to let me know about a feature they just put up - including a short interview with Kenta Cho! Now you can see the man himself and get his thoughts on X-Box live and how it relates to his games:

Check it out!
I was surpised to see Mtv air this, but Stephen Totilo is certainly NOT your run of the mill GTA playing fanboy.

I wonder if anyone at MTV actually bothered to test their website layout on more than one computer. On my laptop it's so horrible that all the autocentered advertising is completely stopping the browser from scrolling the article text to read the article or see the video interview.

Wow. With that kind of publicity, many gamers will make their way from checking his games out (since they look similar to XBLA games like Geometry Wars), getting excited over it and searching more into the depths of the genre. With the rise of XBLA and maybe the VC this might induce a new interest in shmups.

I would hate to see any games of his developed by a team. I think that these kind of developers need to be able to explore their ideas freely without a team telling them what to do. I would like to see his games sold or atleast some way to donate to his work. I just think that when you have too many minds nobody has the total controll over all the game elements and this leads to games just not flowing well. I would not want to be anything but an independant developer I have controll over my game. When you get into bigger companies you don't have full controll over "your" game.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Why not just negotiate from the very beginning that you wish to be able to have some sort of "Arranged"/"Remixed"/"Director's" mode of your game from the get-go. Then the original mode can be crapped on by non-gamer industry analysts while you take what you've learned making that first mode and do it your way for the 2nd version. Release both on same title and let the players decide who was right.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I would not want to be anything but an independant developer I have controll over my game. If big devs don't like the idea, walk.

I would say the same of the BBC's policy - exactly the same thing. It's all about where the money's coming from. With the Beeb, it's taxpayer money; with MTV, apparently their ad monies don't cover the UK or something.the2bears wrote:I heard the same thing from someone else living in the UK... for some reason MTV won't stream the video to outside IPs. Shame on them, pretty stupid if you ask me.
