Name my Mystery Shmup (as in, I don't know it)

in a movie theater in my area that had a shooter that visually looked somewhat like Zero Gunner 2 (i.e. plane combat, 3d, clean looking), but didn't have the rotatable turret mechanic. don't remember getting far, i sucked even more back then , so sorry about the lack of detail. thanks.

it wasn't eye-bleedingly futuristic, just exaggerated. most all of the combat was with planes and helicopters. and here was no Ray----- lock on laser mechanic. in general, i don't remember the game being "gimmicky" either. but thanks for playing

Do you remember roughly how long ago this was? 1997? 2000?
Do you remember any specific scenery items or bosses?
I inferred it from your post, but could you confirm: vertical scrolling?
If vertically scrolling, was it Tate (narrow but tall) or Yoko (wide but short) orientation?

it was around 1999 or so. the only scenery bit i remember is you are flying high in the air with fields (or other green-scenery object) below. there were also clouds floating about cloud-ish-ly, i think. as far as scrolling, i think it played like vert, but actually scrolled like ZG2 (not just up-down). also i blieve it was a YOKO display.

I'm not even sure I've seen the one you are describing, sorry. You could try looking through these.

vertical scrolling/yoko display:
Giga Wing 2 (2000) (reflect force)
Guardian Force (1998) (player ship is a tank)
Ray Crisis (1998) (lock-on)
Ray Storm (1996) (lock-on)
Soukyugurentai (1996) (lock-on)

vertical scrolling/tate display:
Brave Blade (2000)
Psyvariar Medium Unit (1999) (buzzing/grazing)
Psyvariar Revision (2000) (buzzing/grazing)
Shienryu (1997)
Taito F3 (not really 3D hardware):
Grid Seeker : Project Storm Hammer (1992)
Twin Cobra II / Kyukyoku Tiger II (1995)

Not 3D hardware at all, not yoko:
Raiden Fighters (1996)
