the pronunciation of Giga Wing

Post by J-Manic »

I've always wondered whether or not if I've been saying it wrong all these years.

Is it pronounced "gig-ah", "gi-jah", "jig-ah" or "ji-jah"?

gi-ga wing. It`s not like this is no English. Maybe japanese people pronounce it different; but they say things like "Playstayyscho tuu softuuu: Metoool Slaggkkuuu". Or "Hattesoon" instead of "Hudson". Somehow they always put in additonal letters.

Prove:

And now we move to lesson 2: DoDonpachi.
"Duuh Doww Patsch Eeeh". "Dodo BAA-chi". :?:

Another vote for gi-ga.
Maybe someone who's actually from Japan can correct me here, but don't the Japanese pronounce it jig-uh? Much like how they pronounce Studio Ghibli wrong (but it's right to them).

I always assumed it was: guy-guh wing. But Japanese is not one of my languages.

It's written in english.... Gi guh wing, no need to say it with a japanese accent if you don't have one.

That be like calling Street Fighter 2, Stoh-ree-toh Fie-tah Tsu...

I admit thats kinda amusing at the same time, but it don't make it right.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

The fun thing about English is that both "giga" or "jiga" are correct pronunciations (1.21 gigawatts!?!).

The game's title is written ギガウイング in Japanese, which would be pronounced "giga".

i got to stage 6 in a matter of weeks. that was more than half a year ago, though.

i prefer it to giga wing 2. just figuring what to do and the game's layout is pretty disorienting in that.

It's funny that people think they're invincible with these games. Fact is nobody just plays a game for the first time and goes through without dying. If you don't continue and just start the game over when you die then that's cool but whatev either way.

I know huh. You have to make up new names with all of those long ass scores.

Anyway, I've decided to pronounce Giga Wing as "Guy-gay" Wing. Why not? There's already 20 other possiblities. :D
