A new shmup game!

Hello gentlemen,

I'm making a new SHMUP game , a very basic and old-school one with 2D graphics, vertical scroll over a static starfield, and with a touch of manga design.
The game is at its early dev stage it only runs under windows for the moment.

Well it's kind of hard to tell the difficulty with this. It ran slowly on my machine. The game does have style but mixing sprite resolutions looks really uguly. The sprites you did have look very professional though. I wish i could have played it at full speed.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I am in 3rd in the online ranking, very close to the 2nd player :)

Who the heck made that 1st spot score? :)

Anyway, cool concept, hope you add some classic control method, I didn't like the autofire method too much.

The game is very, very, very easy, I didn't lose any lives.. though I expect to get it very harder later, right ?

Good so far needs a more detailed backround(Maybe some meteoriods or solar systems) which may be hard but with your apparent sprite skills it should be a piece a cake.Also an option not to auto fire would be good and defeintly ramp up the dificulty and make the ship faster or give it multiple speeds. The enemy shot's are a little hard to notice with the debree and jewel's it might help to make them flash or make them bigger or make the sound affect louder when they shoot. The jewel suction system need to be better and some sort of sheild system would be good. All the enemy's are kinda small it might be good to add some larger enemys to mix it up,some really fast enemy ships might improve it as well Other than that it's quite fun keep imroving.

And Let me just compliment you on your sprite skills they superb. 8)
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.

Dale: Good idea! I added a background and did bug fix on the snakes.
Pixel_Outlaw: maybe you do not have a 3D opengl/directx9 video card installed?
Shatterhand : nice score, im sure you could do a better one though!
