My new cabinet from eBay!

Post by dboeren »

Hooray! I just won a new cabinet on eBay!

It's a Sega Megalo 410, which is a sitdown cabinet with a permanently horizontal 41" screen. Final price was $455. You can see the listing here:

I've always wanted a 2nd cabinet so I could have one permanently set to vertical and one to horizontal. This one is horizontal only, so I can keep my Taito Egret as my vertical shmupping machine and this new cab will be for pretty much all other games, including the horizontal shmups.

I won't be buying any more PCBs for a while, but when I do I want to try to pick up some more horizontal ones. I'll be keeping an extra-keen eye out for Salamander from now on! Also, since I live in Atlanta, I can drive down to Jacksonville to pick it up. I wonder what a 1-way small U-Haul truck is going to cost me?

Anyway, thanks for listening. You guys are the only ones who can truly appreciate the excitement of a fine new cabinet :)

I don't know anything about these things, but it sure looks pretty.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I would like to get a permanent vertcial cab and I would like it for it be a mini or something. But, it is impossible to find in the Houston area and shipping is always way too rich. Congrats on your cab, it looks awesome!

If anyone else is interested in Japanese cabs, one guy on KLOV forum is selling some Windy and Astro cabs (in southern CA). He had one on ebay but took it down for some reason (maybe someone bought the lot?).

BTW: nice cab dboeren. I'm also keeping an eye out for a megalo, but one with a burned-in or broken monitor. I just want the front half (not the rear projection monitor) for a special project.

I must have been a good boy this month, now I've found someone selling a dedicated R-Type standup and it looks like they will let me have it for $150. I'm going over tomorrow to check it out. Hope it's in good shape and all working...
