TSS: Petite Princesse Gets a "Best" Release

Post by BulletMagnet »

Happened upon this by chance...

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-r-4 ... -1jl5.html

Apparently the budget version comes out in late November, a week or so before Homura's budget version does. Figured any who haven't tried this or the first TSS might be interested...

I've had my eye on this one for awhile but I'm (still) not sure if it's worth the investment, though I was a big fan of the first one.

Did anyone who bought it during its first print run find it a worthy purchase?

OT: Did anyone buy Metal Slug 3D? :?

Well spotted. I've been meaning to try a TSS game, but didn't feel like paying much for the privilege  so this price is about right. How does the PS2 version compare to previous installments?

Gameplay-wise, LPP is almost identical to the first one, which isn't entirely a bad thing, though as you probably already knew the graphics are 3D (though not bad). The cast is different, but otherwise most of the major stuff is the same. To anyone who's never played/owned the first TSS I'd definitely recommend it at this price, seeing as it's less expensive than any of the ports of the original: to those who already have it, if you're a fan you'll like it, though if you're only marginally thrilled with the first there's nothing too new here to change your mind about it. Too bad that playing versus others online (which you can do in Japan) isn't really possible in the West, that would have been a nice extra incentive to try it.

You're kidding right...

Meanwhile, regarding LPP. It's been about this price on YAJ for a while now, and for the original release no less.
Chances are good people would own an Import ready PS2 over say a Sega Saturn or Dreamcast so if you're looking to get a taste of TSS then this is probably the first place to look.
Of course if you own either SS, DC or even NG then you probably already know about this game and you either want it or not.
That and would settle for owning the PS2 version, the cheapest version availible.

Half. It looked awful, but does it play awful? Though I think the already lowered price on Play-Asia was some indication. :)

Back on topic: Looks like I may just purchase TSS:LPP then - it may be a good distraction with my friends once they've had enough of 3rd Strike.

Kiken put up a demonstration video of this game a while back, and I personally loved the artwork and music, although (AFIK) Saturn TSS still has the most extras of any port of this shmup.

It not you can't, it just the game lag, that you can't doge bullets properly...

And I wish to know if XBox360's Senko No Ronde Rev.X got this problem too. Any one could tell me? :o

Yes, and I was actually playing it again recently. Definitely crank the difficulty all the way up, otherwise the game is a total cakewalk.

As discussed in the old thread for the game, it includes plenty of extras (like the original game) as bonus material/unlockables.

Unfortunately, the unlockable original game is plagued with loads o' slowdown, so don't buy LPP just for that.

Quick update: as is the case with Homura, YesAsia has this listed at about ten bucks cheaper than P-A does, and with free shipping, in case anyone wanted to know.
