Anybody play this Famicom shooter? Any good? A Fami-essential, or just a footnote?

Well...if English is your only language you will have problems since it's a Japanese exclusive. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but since it's a RPG/Shooter you will have no idea what's going on or what to do.

In answer, though, the shooter stages I've seen were surprisingly good. If they ever did a translation of this I would be greatly interested.

There is a fan-translation available for the game. I had a brief go and it does seem to be one of the better shooteRPG's, which of course isn't saying much.
