Kaiser - 533,000 - AV-8 - 1-6

The train boss(1-4) is giving me always trouble on second form even if i practice on save states (that run was recorded and uploaded to MARP). Actually he is harder for me than 1-5 boss even on no-miss RANK, i always die on third half
or fourth half when he reveals the core

The 2nd half however has these fan-shots that get shot in groups of 3, 4 times in a row (and this pattern repeats 3 times at different points in the fight). They are not difficult to dodge on their own when you are near the bottom. However, after the 1st set, the boss sprays the bottom screen with bullets AND releases little enemies. You need to dodge the 2nd set while weaving through the bullets. He then shoots another barrage and you can inch up the side to a point. It's the last set that usually gets me. In all the replays I've seen of this being done, the player moves up the right hand side of the screen at full speed and the fan shots always miss.

Yet whenever I do it, I die. I've tried taps, and full speed moving. It never works for me.

Also, the last set of 4 barrages you HAVE to be up near the middle of the screen because he releases this spray that is impossible to dodge while dodging the fan shots.

I've tried many times with save states to pass this boss with a tech bonus. I've only done it a few times, and thats after many, many deaths.

It's one of those bosses I'll likely never get the hang of.

(give it try ;) )
Does it make a difference if you get the tank boss on stage2-1 as opposed to stage2-4? because as we all know on the 1st loop, the regulation difficulty is increasingly more significant if were to get the tank boss on stage 1-1 as opposed to stage 1-4.

Nope. It's all the same. However, there is a slight rank decrease for a while if you die. The rank decrease in this case is just slightly slower bullets. But it goes back up pretty quickly.

New personal best.

I keep dying with bombs. I probably wasted 6-7 bombs on that run.

1-4 sky stage kicked my butt

I'm not gonna get anywhere until I decide to stop being lazy and learn the 1-5 and 1-6 bosses.

edit:

Almost have the 1cc on loop 1.

Went into the final boss with 1 extra life + 2 bombs, but I randomly died vs form 0.

Then this happened.

I blame the 0f layer thing.

edit:

ARGH NOT AGAIN

I really have no idea how I died, since I dodged that thing the first time around from the exact same position.

And I died with 6 bombs left in 1-6 D:

Well at least I broke 1M.

Slightly better run, but same mistakes as the previous one.

1up - 790,900 - X-36 - 1-8

Playing for survival. If I even think about scoring I wont get past 1-5

Nice job Plasmo. You are so close to the hard part of the game =)

I actually like most Psikyo games very much. All Strikers and Gunbird 2 are my favourites. The only ones I really dislike are Sengoku Ace and Blade. I'd love to get the first Strikers 45 PCB one day :)
So what do you think of Strikers 99, Mills?

Plasmo - 1,151,000 - X-36 - 2-1

That was a rather quick first round clear. I'll keep playing to practice the more difficult bosses from 1-5 onwards.

Why isn't there a scoreboard for the highest medal chain like in the gunbird 2 topic? My highest is 41 so far.

because psikyo didn't introduce that system until they released Gunbird-2.

Because I didn't feel like maintaining it. It's enough of a pain in the butt to maintain the 5 ships plus the top 10 ;)

My highest chain is in the 90's. I remember breaking it in 2-1 and being really angry at missing my chance to break 100. I usually average around 20 or 30 something. But I haven't touched the game in quite some time. Haven't really played any shmups lately :(

Not true. It is definitely in Strikers 1999 - a perfect game is 200.

Plasmo - 1,201,600 - X-36 - 2-1
Cleared the loop with no lives left and died at the boss on 2-1. It really gets quite difficult here. At least I know how to do the TB in 1-5 and 1-6 now.
Oh and btw, is it random which of the 1-6 bosses i get to fight? I only get the sattelite boss 1/10 of the time...(which is a good thing)

When do I have to position myself? And what exactly do you mean with "middle" and "side"?

positioning is before satellite launch (the positioning for this video is at the very beginning), as you can see here
