Other than an asinine controller design, I'd say yes. Hell, I'd buy an Xbox if RSG was announced for a port. But we all know that'll never happen.

...so the fact that it doesn't actually have any 2D games worth mentioning beyond some bones Capcom and SNK tossed at it doesn't make a difference? Theoretical potential matters more than actual output?

It's been a few weeks since I powered up any of my consoles.

Of course, that's because my TV is busted and is currently being fixed.

I've been getting reacquainted with Freespace 2 in that time, and it's still as glorious as ever. FYI, anyone who wants an amazing space combat game along the lines of Wing Commander or TIE Fighter should check it out, as Volition's EULA actually allows the game to be shared (the first Freespace game, unfortunately, does not have this generous EULA). It's at Underdogs, though that version is seriously neutered. For the full game go to http://www.hard-light.net/ and check around on their forums. Then go to http://scp.indiegames.us/news.php and get FS2Open if you want to play it with fully updated graphics. There are also plenty of user-created mods available, the best being Derelict, and in case you wan the full story from beginning to end there's also a full port of Freespace to the FS2Open engine.

If the wrong-o-meter wasn't hitting the 10 for this one how about the obvious problem that many 2D fans are sticklers for resolution let alone the problem that the Xbox has quite possibly the worst video output of any modern day console so any definition those 2D sprites once had are now a blurry mess.

Zwei is more or less an extreme version of a lot of shmups.commies. They pirate everything on Dreamcast, yet just buy a PS2 (instead of legally buying all those DC games they 'cant afford') for Gradius 5 because Treasure TOTALLY ROXORZ. And then go on about how much better Dreamcast is without knowing what the hell they're talking about, and because evil Sony won't let you steal the software so easily.
