Surprised Agarest is actually that high. Especially since a lot of people apparantly view it as pretty much a bad game.

The VNs might make sense if they included bundles(there was one with the Go Go Nippon thing, Hatoful Boyfriend, and some others), but I don't know how many sales those got.

For the people on my friends list who bought it, I had previous hard evidence that they were weeaboos.

Soon after purchasing it, they flooded my friend activity page with screenshots of their waifus.

So that's why it sold.

Quite frankly I'm not sure how you could have waifus in a game with a story that incomprehensible and characters that generic.

This has now been released on the PS4 in Japan, but even the tutorial is in English. Seems to run well, I have no idea what I'm doing though.

Had a lot of fun playing this over Xmas once I got to grips with how to play it. I have to admit it took a bit to click with me.

I would have thumbed it down if I was logged in. What the hell were they thinking with that video? Seems like a failed attempt at making it go viral.

amazing

I wonder what the chances are of any of these changes coming to the pc version.

But, with the title screen thing... were the pictures on the right supposed to be how long it takes to boot with the other versions? What were they bringing them up with, a potato-calculator?

Well deserved. Treasure dumped the game Steam and has had only 2 sales in the game's lifetime. Astebreed came to Playism, Steam, GOG, Humble Bundles, and even to the PS4. One company has a publisher that knows how to get the word out. The other doesn't.

The joke is that those pictures on the right are how long it takes typical other games to boot. Identities of the actual games hidden to protect the guilty.

But his point is not really a joke for me - I find myself playing fast-booting games much more often than slow-booting ones. So it really does make a difference.

Or maybe Treasure knew it would be a waste of their very limited resources, since Ikaruga is nearly 15 years old and almost everyone who's interested in playing it has already done so on DC, GC or 360 by now? It's not exactly a game that NEEDS to have the word gotten out about it; Ikaruga's been the darling of "games as art" hipsters since Insert Credit's glory days. Its reputation precedes it.

Also, they probably had an understandable aversion to putting it on DRM-free platforms, as is the case with many Japanese companies.

I recommend the game but if you're unsure enough to be asking the question you're probably better off getting it digitally. The PC version (which doesn't have some of the PS4 enhancements <-- you'd better click that link, it's amazing) is available DRM-free on Playism, GOG, and the Humble Store if "owning" the game is what appeals to you about a physical release.

The 10am batch evaporated in less than 3 minutes. Another batch going on sale a 6pm (~2250 total, incl. 400 OST bundles). I suspect there is some speculative buying going on.

Limited Run #51: Astebreed Soundtrack Bundle (PS4)

Because of the premium price tag LRG doesn't seem to expect that the Dariusburst CS PS4 event will be as frenzied - after this I have my doubts as I would have expected Astebreed to attract less attention than Dariusburst CS.

Yes, LRG knows and fully expects a lot of the inventory they produce to be bought by speculators and scalpers.

They have outright said that their business model wouldn't work without scalpers buying.

Astebreed's significantly more popular than DBCS pretty much everywhere except on this forum.

Not heard of a ton of hype for either off-forum. Seems like they'd be even in my estimation, though the price-tag probably hurts DB considerably.

oh, shoot, is astebreed bad? i'd never played it and decided to pick it up today from LRG. i missed the soundtrack bundle :I first time i've ever gotten into checkout on the site and had them tell me after selecting payment that they were suddenly all out. previously, it would just not let me check out at all.

i knew someone on twitter who didn't like shmups and said they loved it because it "encouraged you" with an achievement called "never give up" for burning a whole bunch of continues in one game, which made me a bit wary  they're the kind of person who gets very angry/upset with difficulty games

Whether it's a "great" game is debatable, but it's definitely not bad.

NieR: Automata did Astebreed and Darius better than Astebreed and Darius. At the same time.

Go play NieR: Automata.
