I always find it funny how game makers can be receiving complaints about "not listening to their customers" or "not giving gamers what they want" one minute and the next being chided by "most gamers are idiots, why listen to them" (not criticizing you specifically on this, just the gaming public in general). As has been said before, Capcom, like all game makers, is a business, and all it can do is put out stuff that people will buy, to the best of its ability. If its customers say "I want to play the same character in every tournament that I've been doing for 15 years," that's what they're going to get - when more people begin saying "give us something different" (and sales figures start going down) only then will it happen.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:People are stupid and Capcom is even more stupid for listening to them.
I couldn't give you a big long list of all the details, but I'm pretty sure that SF4 plays at least pretty differently from HDR - why wouldn't people be willing to play both (or, on another front, I'm sure that there'll be a crowd which hates SF4 and just plays HDR instead)? Why the hell would anyone get Turbo Remix if they can play almost all the SF2 characters in SF4?

That aside, the game looks @#$@¨#@#@!!@$#¨!#%ing good for a 2002 remake. They changed K's theme song from just above average to one of the most orgasm-tastic pieces of fighting game music ever. And they made the 2002 backgrounds into something decent.SockPuppetHyren wrote:Nameless is in no way, shape, or form K'9999.Mortificator wrote: Anyway, KOF 2002 Unlimited Match is looking good too.

Although I love the way 2K2 plays, I had to admit that the original background graphics were pitifully poor - some of the worst ever.ForceDevice wrote: And they made the 2002 backgrounds into something decent.
The fact that this, yet another SNK money-milking regurgetation, has addressed that in such fine style is a good thing indeed.

Best thing is, this is not the only improvement. 2002 is quite low in my KOF "preference list", mostly because of its poor art style, backgrounds and mainly music. From what I've seen in UM gameplay vids, not only the backgrounds were redone but the new soundtrack is FANTASTIC and the character artwork is pretty good as well. And they even added pretty much all characters from previous KOFs that weren't in 2002:Skykid wrote:Although I love the way 2K2 plays, I had to admit that the original background graphics were pitifully poor - some of the worst ever.ForceDevice wrote: And they made the 2002 backgrounds into something decent.

The small selection of chars (compared to 2000 and 2001 at least) was yet another reason for my dislike for 2002. Now that there's a whopping 52 characters available, it's become the best money-milking regurgitation ever. It's an entirely different game now, but who said I care?

whats 2002UM running on then?

2D visuals and entirely different game mechanics (although probably not that evident to the casual observer). The characters and their moves may be very similar but the game pacing and move properties are entirely different.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:Why the hell would anyone get Turbo Remix if they can play almost all the SF2 characters in SF4?

SNK announced an HD Metal Slug, that could mean a lot of things though.MOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:This looks sweet. I gotta have it. I'm sure they will add in the other characters and make new ones for the sequels.
Hopefully they redo Metal Slug like that.

that music was amazing. Atmosphere is miles beyond the cartridge as well. I wish to hell there was a way to play this online cause there's no other way I'll get any competition in this game.

I hear JP are getting it about a week before the rest of the world.tommyb wrote:Anyone know if theres a significant difference in the US and Japanese versions of SFIV?
Besides the language, of course. And the 75 dollar price tag for the NTSC-J version on Play-Asia is a bit staggering.
I KNOW A WHOLE FUCKING WEEK! TEH OUTRAGEZZZZ!
and thats it. That and its primary language will be JP unless there are region codes to change the language depending on how you have your PS3/360 set up but I cant confirm that.

There is no US version of SFIV from what I've heard, just an English language switch, which changes the text and many voices. Why in the world you'd get the JP version unless you're Japanese or live in Japan is beyond me.tommyb wrote:Anyone know if theres a significant difference in the US and Japanese versions of SFIV?
