This week I got 2 new shmups.

Bermuda Triangle (old version)
Viper Phase 1 (USA version) - I bought it off ebay for $50 and it's 100% working. :D :D :D

A mere fifty smackers for a complete USA region Seibu Kaihatsu SP1 mobo & Viper Phase 1 U.S.A. SP1 cart combo deal? That, my friend, is one heck of a cheap-ass deal. ^_~

At first I thought this was one of those stereo pictures where you cross your eyes to see it in 3D. LOL

It still could be done. Just would have to have a 3-D viewer setup to pull it off successfully. ^_~

Akumajo Dracula (well, Ive had it for a while, but its nice)
Haunted Castle (same, different region, had a while)
Black Tiger (bought from Rolins)
ESP Ra.De. (bought from robivy64)

The output from the JROK RGB-component encoder is impressive.

I need to get into the hidden setup menu for my TV and adjust the picture some, but I think thats about all that is required right now

God I love this hobby!

Shinobi can be de-suicided easily - just replace the 68000 block with a standard one and burn a couple of roms, since decrypted ones released by Sega on other variants are available. See:

http://www.arcadecollecting.com/dead/dead.html

Golden Axe is a little harder since you don't have a 8751 (which would allow a similar free fix to the above), but you can buy decrypted ROMs from here:

http://www.segaresurrection.com

My E-SWAT and Alien Storm are both running ROMs from the above source.

Yes i know of segaresurrection website, but i will not pay for those roms. Maybe the "fixed" roms can be downloaded also? But i would prefer to use the original as long as possible.

I opened my "Alien Syndrome" CPU and saw that the battery was dated "86 - 07"... so i might need to do something fast :)

For bloodflowers,

Just out of curiousity, what country region of E-Swat and Alien Storm PCBs do you have?

I used to own/play a Japanese region Alien Storm before I sold it to a fellow shmupper sometime ago. It's cool with the single stage of yoko shmupping action as a bonus. ^_~

Where Sega released decrypted ROMs those are available, but I'm not aware of anyone offering manually decrypted ROMs for free. Having done a less involved decrypt of a Capcom CPS1 game (with a LOT of assistance I might add), I can well understand why people want a little money for their time.

Got this one off of Ebay over the weekend:

Haven't had much time to play this. But it is the blue Jamma version of it. I have 2 bootleg versions that I was too lazy to make a converter for. Not sure if those even worked or not.

Other than that, I've picked up Heated Barrel, Raiden Fighters Jet (real version, not the single board), and I'm piecing together a Naomi GD Rom setup right now.

Sweet, I didn't know that there was a JAMMA version. Such a cool classic!

Beside the lucky shmupper caldwert scooping up a barebones Alcon PCB with Jamma interface, I picked up a similar Jamma Alcon PCB a few years back. Nice to have standard Jamma output but if you have a none-Jamma standard Alcon/Slap Fight PCB, then a Jamma convertor harness adapter could easily be made to remedy that particular situation. ^_~

I've heard varying things about whether there was a Jamma version or not. The 2 Slapfight bootlegs I own are not Jamma, so I had to jump on this one. It came from Bill Burger and is in great shape and super fast shipping. Not sure what these really sell for but I figured I couldn't pass it up. I've had really good luck with Bill Burger lately. Got a Raiden Fighters 2 cart only off of him a few months back as well.

I used BIN on eBay to get a Mr. Driller G board from a Japanese seller, which should probably come sometime next week. It went for about $100 shipped.

Shame about the gameplay faults in the 2000m and endless modes on the PS1 port. These two modes have a field that's 15 blocks wide instead of the usual 9. Blocks that go off the top of the screen will be GONE. So will an air tank if you let it leave the screen- oops, you've blown the Perfect Air bonus. The lack of RAM in the PS1 is probably what causes that deficiency, and I heard the PS1 graphic detail hit on 2000/Endless doesn't happen in the arcade. Too bad G didn't get a Dreamcast port like the first Driller did.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
