Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
So I played it through once on my own and once co-op last night. Its way easy for a Cave game. I did it co-op no continues without even trying. I have a feeling I'll be able to 1cc this far quicker than any other game. Also I think I prefer the sprite art in 1 over this. I did enjoy the new semi-animated cinematic but the graphics just felt like they were from 2003. They didn't have the times feeling that good sprite art does. Also the evil Christmas theme is priceless. I just laughed the whole was through the intro.

Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
I'd like to know if the people who reported success buying the game from overseas used credit cards or MS points. We know from experience that the payment method does matter in whether or not an IP check is enforced.
And yes, would still like to know if this works on a PAL 360 - it's a fair assumption it works on an NA 360, and I've got it working perfectly on my JP 360.

Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
i'm in colombia, and i bought it using MSPs (2400 MSPs, to be exact!) thru the XBox website. Haven't downloaded it yet (since my console is being repaired), but as soon as i get my console back, i'd let you know if they lemme download it or not (w/o using VPNs or stuff like that).StarCreator wrote:I'd like to know if the people who reported success buying the game from overseas used credit cards or MS points. At least one of the posters on NeoGAF that purchased it from overseas used a credit card.

A person on homingcancel said he couldn't get it and he lives in Canada.

What has been said is that it can't be bought using a non-US live account, since the game is only available in the US marketplace. However there have been reports of people buying it with an US account, from outside the US. Long story short: people on Canada can buy it right now, but only with an US account. And they don't have to worry about region-locking. In any case Cave said they are working to have the game made available in the Canada and Mexico marketplace.DragonInstall wrote:A person on homingcancel said he couldn't get it and he lives in Canada.
To summarize all the info available: it looks like the game is not IP-blocked, and it is compatible with Japanese consoles (as well as northamerican ones, d'oh). It still hasn't been 100% confirmed if it is compatible with European consoles, but when I tried to buy it with my European console and an US account, it didn't allow me to buy it.

Exactly what he did and he could not buy it. Wasted $50 dollars in order to get the points for it.Amano Jacu wrote:What has been said is that it can't be bought using a non-US live account, since the game is only available in the US marketplace. Your post contradicts itself - if you weren't allowed to buy it, that was the IP block taking effect. Were you trying to make the purchase via MS points or a credit card?Amano Jacu wrote:To summarize all the info available: it looks like the game is not IP-blocked, and it is compatible with Japanese consoles (as well as northamerican ones, d'oh). Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
I was trying to buy it with MS points, but I had 0 points at that time. Notice that the message I got was about the console region, not the country where I was located. Other games don't give me that error. I will post pics in some minutes.StarCreator wrote:Your post contradicts itself - if you weren't allowed to buy it, that was the IP block taking effect. @Dragon Install: Well, if your friend was actually trying to buy it with an US account from Canada and couldn't, then there's actually IP-blocking. I thought there wasn't due to the reports (maybe the credit card has something to do?). Anyway, he should be able to download it using a VPN so that the marketplace sees an US IP.

Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
I wonder if the lack of IP locking is an oversight. I wouldn't be surprised to see it fixed at some point. If you're sitting on the fence, it might be better to act sooner rather than later.

This is what happens when I try to buy it with MSP, in my European console, from European IP, with an US account with 0 MSP on it:

And this, when I try another game such as Fable III:

I can't be sure, but I still think this means the game is not IP-blocked, but Region-locked so that it doesn't run on European consoles.

Interesting... I'd still like to see what happens if you try to use a credit card to make the purchase though, since it's been observed in the past that the use of MSP causes the IP block to kick in.
Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
Definitely seems like you need a NA or Japanese console with a US Live account to access it outside of the US. Which I have and am doing here in Germany.
There is also some weirdness going on with the download. I've got one full file that went through and is playable then another file that says it is incomplete but I can not seem to delete it...slightly different file sizes, too. Check it out (also, the Dead Space is one of my older GoD games originally bought there but not redownloadable in Germany, therefore the exclamation point):

if there's still a shadow of doubt of if the game can be downloaded outside the US, i can confirm that you can download it from outside with no problems, and if your console is NTSC-U, it will work with no problems... i just downloaded my copy and its working like a charm.StarCreator wrote:At least one of the posters on NeoGAF that purchased it from overseas used a credit card.

Can someone who is playing the Games on Demand version please post or PM me their gamertag? I'm just curious to see what it looks like on an xbox.com profile.
edit: Thanks Kaspal.

It just looks like a generic cover. You'd have to be on a Japanese gamertag to actually see the boxart (even though the "new releases" box in the dashboard has the boxart...).Brod wrote:Can someone who is playing the Games on Demand version please post or PM me their gamertag? Goddammit Casper. Why must your endings be so incredibly creepy?

Comeoooon Cave/Microsoft... get with the Canadian store already...
I could pull some shenanigans with a US gamer profile.. but I'd much rather have the purchase tied to my main Canadian account if I switch Xbox's down the line...

Tell me about it. Lets hope they're actually trying to work something out. The facebook page says they're working on the issue while Cave's blog says that it's unsure whether or not the game will even be up on the marketplace.
Either way, I think I'm going to do the American account thing but I can't seem to input a Canadian credit card on it. Is there a way around this or do I have to get a points card?

Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
I've been playing this a fair bit tonight (mostly arrange mode) and I have to say it's one of the more enjoyable shooters I've had a chance to play recently. It took some reading to figure out what the heck I'm supposed to be doing, and I'm pretty sure I've got a long way to go in order to put up some decent scores (I think my best is in the 360m range so far) but I can see myself sticking with this one for a while.

That works, doesn't it. I didn't know you could use paypal, thanks.

What the, you can use Paypal with a US account? Can Microsoft detect where Paypal users are buying from?

Re: Deathsmiles IIX (Xbox 360) - US GoD release OUT NOW
I have a JP console, living in EU. Would like a shot at buying this but I don't know how you guys get XBL to display the price in MSpoints? It only shows a dollar price over here. I'll go the credit card route if I have to, but would rather use points ATM... thanks in advance for any tips.

It should switch to MS points if you press the X button on the purchase screen.auryn wrote:I have a JP console, living in EU. Through Xbox.com, when you attempt to purchase points.Etrian wrote:What the, you can use Paypal with a US account? Can Microsoft detect where Paypal users are buying from?
I don't like this though. There's no mention of the $19.99 I was expecting to be charged for 1600 points, and instead, this showed up:
lol, yeah no.I authorize Microsoft Corporation to use the available funding sources in my PayPal account based on PayPal's default preferences for future payments. PayPal will not share my financial information with this merchant.
