Well someone using SMJ has bid on it. Looks like I'll be missing out this time.EOJ wrote:Pink Sweets at Fujita is NOS. Just a couple kits afaik.
If anyone wants a cheap MMP kit, buy this one for 93,000 yen (art/box are all brand new - PCB is used and b/w instructions are copied):

For those not welcome in the honeycomb hideout, the review seems to also be posted here. Would also be nice to post these on the shmups forum review section.
It's not on sale yet, will be released sometime in January according to Cave website.Gakidou wrote:Did anyone buy the Muchi Muchi Pork CD/DVD? What is on the DVD? Just one run or several? Close to world record scores? And has anybody asked PA if they will be selling this one?
I hope PA will take preorders soon...
I've finally gotten to get in some good hours the last few days and the game is starting to click. Best so far is 45m and died at the stage 4 boss.
So far, it's like the dream Yagawa game:
* The old "collect bomb, use bomb, collect medals" gameplay has been moved over to the lard meter, freeing up the bomb for "oh shit" moments and evolving the mechanic so that the player can focus more on scoring than on wondering if they should keep their bombs or try for more medals. It makes for a much more addictive experience.
* The game has a very Esprade feel to it now with the lard meter. The rhythm of wearing down big ships and then getting the kill with the lard shot for medals is very much like the first and secondary shot mechanics in Rade. I think Esprade probably has the edge because the secondary shot, once powered up, was a constant burst of 16 bubbles, so the timing was always the same, making the rhythm easier to pick up on. Here, I'm still finding myself looking down at my lard meter, but I'm sure I'll get a better feel for it as time goes on.
* Rank is now less evil, and there doesn't seem to be as much need to suicide. It seems that if the patterns get too fierce I will end up dying anyway, and the patterns can be seen instantly getting less dense and fast. It finally seems to be the perfect balance of skill that I assume it was originally concieved to be. The fact that you have to one-life it to get the loop is testament to that, as opposed to Battle Garegga superplays where good players have to sack ships all over the place.
* Pork-medaling is just too fun, and gone is that feeling of loss as a lone medal creeps off the screen and resets your chain as in past Yagawa games. Here, you simply let off B to suck them in, and if a lone one does get away, or you die as some pass, it only goes down one rank. Again, this all lets the player focus on scoring completely and not have to really sweat a death, or a missed medal. In the old system, missing a medal meant that you just lost tens of thousands of points as you would have to start over with your chain, but here you're right back in the action after a miss.
So far a solid A- and really fun game.

FULL LOCK is BOMB
It goes down by a factor of 10 actually, not "one rank". So a 10,000 medal will reduce to a 1000 medal, and you have to work back up to 10K. Better than having it reduced back down to 100, as in Ibara and PS, though.8 1/2 wrote:

Check out my review of the game, as well as my strategy guide for more detailed info on how the game works.
I have been looking at it. Thanks for putting it together. I just made it to stage 5 on a credit at lunch. Not the hardest game, but it has this sort of Mega Man 2 balance where it just feels right. Hope I can put up a better score soon. I keep wasting my lard before I get to bosses, or on the wrong patterns, and killing my chances at getting the big burst out of them.

That's what I keep reading. Is it her insanely long bomb that makes her so effective? I like that her lard attack locks on to enemies so I can concentrate on just dodging, but her main shot is really weak and she's a little jumpy for my tastes (I like slower ships usually). So far, I like Momo the best, though her limited range with the lard attack makes her a little trickier. Is it me, or do the lard attacks have a very Dangun Feveron look to them? Especially Rafute's lock-on sawblade.

I'm more interested in the prospect of their new game, though who knows what it may be.

Pork for all! I'm down but Id rather a retail release of that one meself. I'm sure the cover art would be worth the cost of admission
Considering a XBLA release would be cheaper and distro cost would be less, I wont complain.

Insane, I officially love my 360 more then anything since the Dreamcast. If this pans out to be true and it's available in NA I'm going to buy this for like 5 of my friends personally.

Revamped scoring system. That is not necessarily good news.
MMP being considered for an XBLA release, however, is great news. I'm genuinely surprised that it isn't going straight for retail instead since it's one of Cave's later titles.

I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.
I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

I was too at first. But after thinking about it, my guess is that they felt it wouldn't sell as well as their other games if it was a full-priced retail release, and since they seem like they want to reach a global audience lately (and that MMP got lots of votes from people outside of Japan in that recent poll), a cheaper XBLA release would be the best way to go. I would have preferred a retail release, but oh well.Elixir wrote:I'm genuinely surprised that it isn't going straight for retail instead since it's one of Cave's later titles.

Retail release has a long lifespan, digital download... only as good so long as the service exists. I hope this is in the pre-planning stage as I would much rather see a game like MMP! be a full retail release. Here's to hoping.Cuilan wrote:I was too at first.
