After spending around 4 days of my summer break looking up Myers-Briggs, I finally became MBTI-enlightened:
Spoiler
In other words, I realized it was total bullshit and should've spent the time playing Gradius or something. I apparently can't exist as I am according to the MBTI because I have traits mutually exclusive to ENTPs, ENFPs, and INTPs. The whole thing is basically a cult and I feel like a total retard.

I think it actually kinda works with stupid/shallow people; I think would be pretty accurate if I said that [snip]. With people who are the slightest bit sophisticated, they don't fit any type very well; Skykid, BIL, Shepardus, and almost everyone else I know online and IRL share traits mutually exclusive according to the MBTI.

Hell, not even people like Albert Einstein perfectly fit their description, and websites devoted to typing people are often wildly inaccurate (Bernie Sanders is an ENTJ? Seriously?).

All models are wrong, but some are useful. Dunno how useful MBTI is though.

The job done on this poor soul.

Naturally he made a fundamental mistake, but what's that about "don't be evil?"

Speaking of which, the crying shame of this "no racial bias" article making the rounds of news:

I thought her speech today was good, but dang, listening to her + some random people eating dinner tonight brought home to why some people don't like the sound of some American accents. Listening to Theresa May on the radio also gave that impression. It's not accent, "class," or male or female to me - Clinton certainly doesn't have the most annoying voice by a long shot, but May's is just so fun to listen to.

"Mutually exclusive worldviews" certainly describes most philosophy, but I think you can't even escape this trend in theoretical physics. You only get a chance to chip away at some of the inconsistencies, but never really resolve them - especially if you want to have a workable model left in the end.

Also, (American) Chinese Fortune Cookies have done a lot more for me than the MBTI, or any written psychological test for that matter...and I think psychology is great, but the written battery type stuff just misses too much in many cases.

I think if Myers-Briggs had like quadruple the personalities, it might be somewhat decent. The way it is, though, is complete shit. The people who are obsessed with it also suck at it; there's this type called INFP that's supposed to be very emo and shy with some of the most notable INFPs being Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe (as well as other writers of "tragic" works that make my English classes miserable), but for some reason Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes is always said to be an INFP when that makes no sense because INFPs are supposed the polar opposite of people who would do things like locking their babysitter out of the house, harassing some girl, running out of school, etc.

The general idea is somewhat true, though: even before I heard of it last February when I took the test at school, I still knew some people were more of sensors than intuitives, judgers than percievers, etc.; I just didn't know the terminology.

I got lost at the point where we're discussing personality types for cartoon characters named after a theologian and a philosopher. That doesn't seem like psychology to me, but some uncanny valley version of it.

To be fair, Bill Watterson, the guy who made it, is also said to be an INFP when he obviously isn't because Calvin and Hobbes isn't very emotional (except for the dead raccoon arc).

P.S.: Xyga isn't an INFP despite getting that result after taking that shitty test in that shitty thread I made shortly after discovering MBTI (thought it was legit because again, the school made me take it).

The whole parallel universe thing is bullshit, but the fact that large groups of people misremember the same thing in the same way is interesting. Did you know that what people know as "Jiffy" peanut butter is actually called "Jif"?

Whoever owns the channel I linked to is completely irredeemable and deserves no pity. At least the Mandela Effect stuff is based on a real phenomenon and is also interesting from a psychological standpoint in that it's proof of how unreliable memory really is.

That test is BS, it wasn't able to identify my personality as being that of pangolin, which is obvious for anyone who knows chess even a little bit.

Also, can you give me a CWCki or Youtube link to where he talks about the personality test? I'm interested.

And dat's dat.

Also... I've long been a little hell annoyed at Resident Evil characters dressing so hawt & sexy around terrible infectious shit. It gets kind of ridiculous when Col. Campbell is saying "God knows what sort of virus we're dealing with!" while I'm rummaging about in godawful shite with bare hands! I know it's part of the B-movie thing but at least complement those leather trousers with some gloves (ala Rob Halford), pls!

This is another reason why resident soldier philosopher HUNK is the objective best, obviously. The DEATH can never die, but even he knows to watch out for cross-contamination! 1) empty SMG into old lady's face 2) wrench neck 3) wash hands

Being hated by everyone on the forum to varying degrees (and system11 himself's annoyance is probably in at least the 70th percentile). What makes it worse is that it's totally justified due to my fucking HORRID first, I don't even know, probably year. And I'm still a pretty shitty poster.

The issue is that I usually become aware of how retarded my posts are some time after I click "submit", and it's usually after someone else has made another post in the thread (even worse if it's a reply) so I can't even delete it to prevent further people from seeing it (unless someone screencaps and shares it). I have shit impulse control so almost everything I think of ends up getting sent out of my PC's ethernet port. I really need to learn self-control :/

The reason I stay on here despite being disliked is because I actually like the people here (not your fault I'm a terrible poster; I'd have the exact same reaction if I were in your shoes) and want to show everyone that I'm worthy one day.

Posted this in the wrong thread. I'm so embarrassed that I don't think I'll post here for a week or something

Even if you can't delete posts, you can still edit them. For example, this whole emoticon ejaculation you could just replace with *snip* and that would be the end of it.

You do know that this forum has a "preview" function, so you can double-check before you post, right?

You're also presumably posting this from a computer with a hard drive. You can write a post in notepad. Save it. Come back in an hour or two. If it still seems like it merits sharing, ctrl-a ctrl-c ctrl-v.

Is it too late to go to summer camp? Clearly you need to vent some serious teenage energy and mega man ain't satisfying it. Go paddle a canoe. Sing some campfire songs. Get a hand job behind the cabins. I guarantee you'll walk away with a calmer mind.

I don't know you, and I'm too new on these forums to know what you're beginnings here were liked...but dude everyone has problems to some degree.

Try what I've been doing for years with replying to work e-mails. Type in a different window and when you're done, proof-read it a couple times and make sure you aren't coming off the wrong way. Go get a cup of coffee and come back later and read it again. Sometimes we all get excited/pissed-off/opinionated/whatever and are too quick to type something and hit send without totally realise that we worded something in a dick-ish manner. This method helps me immensely!

On a side note, thanks for helping me with my recent PVM purchase. Identifying the problem with the seller hooking up YPbPr cables to an RGB only monitor thinking it was faulty helped me get a great deal on it LOL.

Again I don't know you or what you've done to upset people, but it's all about taking steps in the right direction and making positive changes....don't look backwards too much and rehash the same problems.
