Maybe it's just me, but that says more about the accepted price of Superplay DVDs than it does about this boxset.

I'm sure they would be a lot cheaper if they made print runs of 50.000 or more, the fire would be higher too

Set is even more attractive to those who have been buying the releases over the years. Very nice little final set for such a great run.

Count me as yet another who has all the LEs of these discs, all the various region releases, and now this box set. Doubt I'll ever touch the superplays or audio CDs. Box is cheap enough to add to the collection next to all the others.

Don't waste time arguing...set is very much designed for folks who already have the bulk (if not all) of these releases.

Mine arrived. Going to be watching the super-play DVDs all night, as well as rip all the OSTs and shove them into my iPhone.

As I was quite late with my order of the collection and Solaris did not have any more in stock I had to find another place with a decent price. So those who are still looking for this set should have a look at genkivideogames (at least if they live in Europe because there won't be any taxes).
The soundtrack discs are included btw.

i don't see how skykid can say people buying this are stupid when he has double dipped with ports and pcbs.as someone who has played all pcbs(except ibara kuro) and ports so far i would say the pcbs are a far worse buy in terms of value/content than this boxset.

of course if he didn't have pcbs skykid wouldn't be able to swing his e-penis about

Thing is with PCB.s, although they are more collector's items than anything else (seeing as the ports are pretty good and a far cheaper way of getting to play the game) you can at least get your money back on them, so whilst they require an initial outlay, the money is just tied-up rather than being effectively lost as is the case with the ports since they've now had so many re-prints.

I collect and play both ports and pcbs. Cost of this collection is less than or equal to one PCB, I'd rather spend money on the collection hands down.

Only if you buy them after they are several years old. I've lost more value on 2-3 newish Cave boards than it would cost to buy a J360 and every Cave game.

Of course; I tend to forget that there's this market of actually selling new PCB's to individuals rather than the old way of basically buying PCB's that are "recovered" from retired machines, but when I see people spending about £1000 on a new PCB I think that's pretty excessive. I guess everybody wastes thousands of (currency) on nik-naks that are in affect worthless over the course of a year so I guess it's no different. If you have a cab and want a board that is still being played in arcades I guess it's nice to have it in your home, but the premium is very high on that experience.

I usually don't ever buy them brand new except Tamashii which dropped a lot in price even brand new in box, as did Ibara a long time ago. I mean even at a year or 2 old, buying used from a pcb shop or auction, you will likely still lose value on that. You have to wait for them to be several years old to get the situation you described. But then it's the same thing as console games, if you bought them after they are 5 years old you will get your money back when you resell.

The excess argument is pretty stale.. Spending a couple thousand on boards is the same as spending it on a motocycle when you already own a car. You don't need it, it's just a hobby/fun/excitement, and I could say worse about paying $200 for a pressed disc and paper. Even $100. I get enough fun out of them for it to be worth it, but it does sting when they lose value.

So mine finally came today. I had a coworker who's family lives in Japan play middleman. We picked it up from the post office this morning. (It was a signed delivery). While in line he informs me that he doesn't check his mail box often and that this notice for pick up arrived last week on the 2nd. :|

The package was sent EMS, ¥6100, a complete waste. And I missed my chance to sell my OST set to a user here do to the "delay." Me, ten fold > :|

Oh well, being that I previously only owned Death Smiles, Akai Katana and Guwange this set was well received.

Because you've seen me post in the 'stuff I just bought and 'cool pcb I just got' thread so many times, right.

As I've stated on numerous occasions, I never buy the ports to play original modes if I have the PCB (I'd obviously just play the PCB, lol.) I do play all the arrange modes, Black Labels and bonus DLC, like Futari 1.0, Mushi 1.5 etc. They warrant the purchases for me, but if a PCB is an option for a great shmup, that's the way I'll always try to go.

That's not the same as 'double dipping'. That's when you buy a carbon copy of exactly the same material twice over.

I'd be here less if people didn't keep mentioning my name and asking me questions.

I don't need the collection, I have everything in it. It looks cheap and tacky and comes off as very budget, and it's hard to convince myself under the pretence of 'collectibles' to buy a bunch of games twice when there's not a single original trinket or bonus in the box to entice me: just a stack of DVD's I own and some cheap (your words) multicases to hold all the bare discs.

For all the guys who don't already have the stuff, it's a great all-in-one opportunity, for me it's a complete waste of money. Being able to share the DLC is by far the best aspect of the release, from a personal perspective.

I really don't need to repeat this again.

I didn't see it.

I'd like to close the lid on this and not find my ears burning every time someone feels the need to validate the three-hundred dollars they just spent on stuff they already own.

I noticed.

I doubt that many who purchased this owned everything in it, but thats just my assumption. Im really enjoying the superplays and OSTs. The guidebooks are filled with some beautiful art Ive never seen whixh is nice to have. The OST case is cheap as hell though (ive already replaced it with a nicer clear case). I think overall my biggest complaint is packaging/presentation which is lacking in almost every way sadly.

My CDs arrived today from NCSX, so it turns out that they definitely were shipped out to some resellers separately.
I owned the games already, but I didn't own any of the CDs or DVDs. I guess that makes me only 1/2 assclown.

Update from Eurotaku!

Hello David,

We could finally ship the CD's missing with your Cave Shooting Collection BOX.

In fact, there was a huge misunderstanding from CAVE, and also a big mistake on the original delivery.

First thing to know is that these CD's are NOT "bonus CD's", since it’s included with the original package, only separately, in a DVD size thick plastic box (with same design as the game box).

So, the trouble / misunderstanding we had with Cave when we asked for the "bonus CD's" was that they thought we were arguing about getting a "Prime CD" which was released in only a few pieces for "Premium Cave on-line Costumers". Since we never had sight of the CD's INCLUDED with the Cave Shooting Collection, we didn't know for a fact how to call it. Moreover, it was never delivered to us...

After many phone calls (and a few "polite insults in Japanese"), they finally got aware of their mistake: the delivery was incomplete! They called us, apologized and delivered the missing CD box yesterday, which we could ship to you (and other costumers) today.

The shipping costs are covered by Cave, therefore we are not charging anyone for this ... and it’s the least we could do, besides, once again apologize for all the inconvenience David.

I am very glad that we could solve this issue and I do hope that now, you can be totally satisfied of your purchase in our shop, although this trouble wasn't of our fault.

We look forward for serving you again, and we promise to do better next time!

Best regards,

Nuno

I still want to know what this is. Their store has been offline for over a year now, and I spent over $10,000 on merchandise the few years that it was around. If that doesn't make me a "Premium Cave on-line Costumer", then I'm not sure how one achieves that status.
