Anyone see that episode of the A-Team where they shoot down a helicopter at the end and it blows up and hitting a cliff or something?
Well, in the next scene the occupants all get out and stagger around its so hilarious
I didnt put anything for animation.
My favourites as a kid were -
Dungeons and Dragons
Ulysses 31
Mysterious Cities of gold
Thundercats
I don't do anime or any of the new stuff, the 80's cartoons were absolutely the best ever.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I watched cartoons as a kid in the 70s and now I watch them with my kid, and I'll tell you: there is a world of difference in quality between what's available to kids now and what was then available. Cartoons from the 70s were mostly crap compared to what kids have today. To take just one small example. Think about the Justice League Unlimited, which has a real edge to it-- dark and thoughtful-- with great artwork and think about the SuperFriends (or whatever it was called back in the day). There's just no comparison. Who would watch Super Friends, given the choice between the two? Again, this is just one small example. I'm not even such a big Justice League fan: my argument could be much stronger if I had the time.neorichieb1971 wrote: the 80's cartoons were absolutely the best ever.

I forgot Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch. How can you not love a show that features a bear with an afro and an invisible motorcycle?

I miss that show. I'm very disappointed that Kings' Diminion got rid of all the obscure Hanna Barbara characters like Hair Bear, Paul Rugg (from Hillbilly Bears, another fun HB show), and Hong Kong Phooey for the parking places. They even got rid of the Smurf fries and Smurf mountain (though Hanna Barbara didn't original make the Smurfs).Acid King wrote:I forgot Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch. Oddly enough, there were actually two different cartoons of Heathcliff, a Ruby Spears one and the newer DIC one. The later one had an extra cartoon with it that had this character name Riff Raff as the main character instead of Heathcliff. The older Ruby Spears cartoon was packaged with Marmaduke, if I remember correctly.Sly Cherry Chunks wrote:Heathcliffe.Soulo wrote:some cartoon with an orange cat and a gang of cats living in a junkyard which I can't seem to remember the name of
I was so happy when I found out that the cable company in my area has Boomerang as part of their standard digital cable package. I'm just waiting for them to air some Hair Bear bunch so I can tape 'em. They play a lot of looney tunes, a lot of Tom and Jerry and tons of hanna barbara stuff. IN the morning from 10-11 they run a block called the Zoo which is all old hanna barbara animal cartoons (Squiddly Diddly, Grape Ape, etc). They also air Underdog daily and play stuff like the Shmoo and the Amazing Chan Clan. I also get Boomerang on demand and the first week I had cable, some Hong Kong Phooey episodes were on it. Plus, there are almost no commercials on the station, and the commercials that do run are ads for cartoon network stuff. Easily the best station on TV.BrianC wrote:I miss that show. I used to watch that also. I think it's that dog that was always dirty!
I forgot about Peanuts!!
My Trying Not To
Babylon 5; fan-freaking-tastic writing, a must-have!
Monty Python's Flying Circus; 'nuff said
Good Eats; Soupy Sales meets cooking
Muppets (the old show); finally starting to come out on DVD
Law & Order; the old show, none of this CI, SVU, OMGWTFBBQ crap (RIP Briscoe)
Futurama; killed off way before it's time.
The Twilight Zone; the old show
I gues there isn't really much on current TV that I watch...

Current TV Shows:
Veronica Mars
Prison Break
I used to think that they wouldn't be able to top the OC and Lost. But those two shows have to be the best ever. I have just watched the first series of Veronica Mars in a week. Top class stuff.
24 - That show casuses me to sweat so much. Very very gripping. Characters aren't as good as Veronica Mars, but its stilla wicked show.

Oh man, another show I haven't seen mentioned yet is Stroker & Hoop. I thought the pilot was really boring, but then when the show itself actually landed...I was wowed. I think it's hilarious.
But my favorite show for the past year has been Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's from Larry David, the guy behind Seinfeld (oddly enough I hate Seinfeld but love CYE). This new season's not as great as the last one with Mel Brooks' The Producers as the main plot, but it's still pretty, pretty, pretty..pretty good.

Alright I just got the Aeon Flux box set that came out yesterday and it's AWESOME. 29.99 USD and it's got all ten episodes, the six Liquid Television shorts (War, Gravity, etc.), and the very first Liquid Television shorts that were strung together into that ten minute "pilot episode." So it has ALL Aeon Flux animation. There's a bunch of featurettes and there's even a commentary with Peter Chung on all the shorts!
This is a very definitive, complete package, I'm blown away since Paramount usually sucks and I expected crap from anything associated with MTV.
On top of that, Peter Chung supervised the editing/color collection/etc. I compared this with the VHS and an older DVD release of some episodes and it looks fantastic. The episodes are all now at their original running time too which in most cases was longer than what got aired on tv/previously released on home video.
Finally, Peter Chung re-edited some of the episodes with older/unused takes that are seemlessly worked into the show so that the ten full episodes have a little more continuity between them. They go the original voice talent to voice these and everything.
Seriously high caliber release. Everyone should own it.

Miami Vice
Star Trek (pre-Next Generation)
Babylon 5
Sharpe
Family Guy
Just five off the top of my head.
I grew up with Miami Vice, I love everything about it. Many people write it off as just another dumb cop show, but actually it was well written, well acted, well directed, and just damn good for a TV series. Perfect for all children of the 80s.
Star Trek - nothing much to say on this one. Proper science fiction and adventure, even if it was a bit hokey in places. It was unbelievable, but that was actually one of its best qualities.
Babylon 5 - sprawling story, mostly excellent cast (some marginals, made up for by some incredible performances by others - Gkar for instance). This ran for 5 series, the 5th was more of a tidyup, series 3 and 4 are rollercoaster rides of story /and/ action - perfect space opera.
Sharpe - actually multiple part book adaptions. Again good stories and very strong acting, this very likely never left the UK, some information is here: http://www.southessex.co.uk/
Family Guy - it's The Simpsons with a cruel twist that appeals to me. Never afraid to throw a punch at a soft target, this is the perfect antidote to the rash of political correctness gone crazy.
