Seconded; if they're going to change the tone that much they might as well have done so via a new IP.

Undertale coming to Vita (and PS4) with physical copies. Was not expecting Vita news at E3.

Lots of good stuff in the Sony preshow so they must have some great stuff for the conference.

So. Sony disappointing as hell, Microsoft and Ubisoft exceeding all expectations. Weirdest E3 ever.

No smaller scale games at all, couldn't they fit them into a montage at the very least? Of course shitty VR games got a ton of screen time.

How? What happened? I don't really want to watch these conferences, but I'm just picking up on people's comments, and so far the only remotely interesting thing I've heard come out of Microsoft's conference was Ori 2, or am I wrong?
That Lost Planet game from Bioware would probably also be interesting if it wasn't a fucking online game. :\

Unfortunately staying up at 3AM to watch the Sony presentation was a bit too much for me. Was anything interesting shown? I don't know much about MonHun so I don't know how hype I should get, and SotC remake is still a remake. This E3 is starting to get seriously disappointing as a whole.

Glad I slept through the night., that conference wouldn't have been worth it losing sleep over.

Nothing new from Fromsoft, nothing new about whatever Kojima is up to with Death Stranding. Also lots of cinema, no real gameplay was shown at all. Even showfloor was setup like a cinema lol

Sounds like they spunked it all last year and didn't have much new substance. Seems like that'd be quite hard to avoid.

I'm watching the Egyptian Ass gameplay demo. It.. looks alright, I guess?
My eyes rolled when he used an eagle to tag soldiers in a camp, Phantom pain doin' it, Zelda doin' it, everyones doing it!

My thoughts were similar to when I saw Breath of the Wild demos: sure you can tag soldiers and go in stealthily, but why? AssCreed combat has always been a total cakewalk, you can just walk in and mash/spam counter and win. Why even attack the camp in the first place.

They've answered my question by putting levels and gear into ass creed. Okay, that could work I guess.
Seems a rather artificial way to add some incentive + depth but considering the games I play I can't complain.
I'm a total whore for gear farming and maxing out these systems in my junkfood games.
Although how do higher level "tougher" enemies factor in when you're just doing the usual hide in bushes and stealth kill approach.

E3; "The beatings will continue until morale improves."

Have not been able to sit though more than a few minutes of any E3. Ever. The cringe is suffocating. This one was no different. Who the fuck is it all for? Certainly not for the gamers. Saw a little of the xboxonex reveal. Audience hirelings are still a thing? Christ almighty, they were whooping and chirping in the most obnoxious American audience fashion right from the get-go. Was it my imagination, or were some of these clowns off cue?

Even if it was a new IP it looked awful but as a beyond good and evil game, the new tone is embarrassingly forced.

Could you elaborate? I'm not paying tons of attention to this E3. Just skimming over pages, and looking at trailers. Is there some kind of kerfuffle?
Again, is E3 really about/for "gamers"? It a fucking cringefest.

Concur, beautiful. Absolutely the right game to take advantage of current gen tech. In B4 all the PS3 special editions end up in a bargain bucket.

Got to admit, calling out the whooping, "CLAMP YOUR GOB, YOU FUCKING MORON!", had me chuckling. At this rate, the next marketing step in selling your games will be to tell gamers not to buy your games.

Same first party games we've already seen, VR, Activision (CoD, Destiny) and basically nothing else. It's impressive how bad it is.

I just thought they showcased a fantastic variety of games, if they want to sell me on a console that's the way to do it there was all sorts of stuff, things that caught my attention:

Deep Rock Galactic
Life is Strange: Before the Storm
Riverbound*
Shift*
Super Lucky Tale
The Artful Escape
The Last Night
Unruly Heroes*

Not all newly announced no, but that's a nice variety of games to add to the AAA stuff they also showed (and I felt they had more variety than Sony there too).

* Sadly only showed in a montage, got to save time to try to sell people on a new car. That said a montage is a great idea. "Look at all these games that are coming we don't even have time to show you". Why Sony didn't do that this year is really confusing.

E3 is obviously primarily for commercial interests, gamers just happens to really enjoy it. Sort of like Christmas.

My opinion:

Ubisoft > Microsoft > Nintendo > Sony > Bethesda > EA

Though if Nintendo had revealed the Mario tactics game they would've switched places with Ubisoft on that list.

The Evil Within 2
Dragon Ball Zrd
Monster Hunter World
Xbox BC
Mario Odyssey
Btw we're making Pokemon
SotC, again
Umihara Kawase's guest appearance in some poverty kusoge fighter I'll never play

Pretty meh at best. Where's 13 Sentinels?

They didn't mention anything besides the title, so it sounds like a 2019-2020 release. Curiously they didn't even mention retro. I'm afraid they might have outsourced this to an entirely different studio. In any case, the Prime games got worse with each title anyways so I'm not super looking forward to this one...

Interestingly they only announced the usual console titles. Nothing like we would have seen on 3DS.

They announced a 2D Metroid for 3DS in the live stream. Guess I'm eating my words now.

Apparently it's a reimagining of Metroid 2 (I'm guessing like Zero Mission was to Metroid 1). It looks like a good game, but damn is it ugly.

At least Nintendo has a focus on Metroid again, that's a pleasant surprise. Supposedly Retro are NOT doing Prime 4: https://twitter.com/Doctor_Cupcakes/sta ... 0866413568
But honestly, I think that's for the better. Retro's games got stale, and I want to see Nintendo trying to take it in a new direction. Also, that means Retro is working on something different - if not a new DKC game, maybe a completely new IP, or another resurrected one. They did an absolutely amazing job at Tropical Freeze, and I will be a sucker for anything they have coming up. Hoping to hear an announcement soon, maybe even this E3.

That's the worry - we've got a few titles for this year and this is a solid name. They have to get it out next year to keep momentum going.

I enjoyed Prime 3 a lot more than 2. There was no tension in the life-sapping "dark world" because the safe zones were too common and the key hunt at the endgame, urgh.

Surprised as well to see a Metroid 2 remake for 3DS. Honestly thought they'd ditch 3DS fairly soon.

I liked the music for SM Odyssey, hope it's as good as the soundtrack for SM3DWorld on WiiU.

There are a few more games coming out, but it didn't need them this year, with Pokemon SM Ultra coming out in November. Then there's the port of Dragon Quest XI.

A new 2.5D Metroid 2 remake by... Mercury Steam? Cinematic punish animations in my Metroid? This would seem like the perfect opportunity to pass the IP up to WayForward, but eh. I don't remember the reception of the 2D Castlevania games for the 3DS by them to be particularly positive. The new additions to the combat do seem interesting (I remember a lot of people hating the tight hitboxes of some bosses in Metroid 2 and AM2R, so I guess free aiming might be a concession here), but we couldn't see any of the exploration or level design.

Mirror of Fate is an absolute affront to everything you can relate to it, Castlevania or 2D action games in general. There is no end to the list of things wrong with that game.
