I checked out this demo. I don't like GT games, because I don't like realistic racers, but I thought I would at least look at it. I was bored.

Is it just me, do the graphics not seem up to par? They all seem so simplistic.

Seems pretty interesting although I still maintain that my fave racer this gen was PGR4. Now that was a fun ass racing game...

great, i'm 3 months late to the party. as always, this thread is pretty terrible, and even people i'd normally respect act as if they've never put the disc in their ps3... some people admitted this outright.

"gt is the avatar of the gaming world" is the worst thing i've ever heard anyone say in my entire life.

"gt is not about the career" is the most important thing you will ever hear me say about the series.

the day we can throw all these useless, hateful memes in the garbage and just play the games is the day we will all become decent human beings.

anyway! somewhat hype for gt6 here. kinda bothered that the demo looks so much like gt5 (not even gt2 was like that)... yet pleased that it seems to have improved in the style department. since it's being released so soon after the demo, i'm hoping that styling will stick at least. also hoping that we'll start with seasonals and the like so i can just cheese for everything and play it like i'm supposed to asap.

Most important news for me right now: No More “Experience Points” in Gran Turismo 6

I'm SO glad they ditched that. It was incredibly annoying when you couldn't enter an event or buy a particular car because of an arbitrary level number. The last few levels required a stupid amount of grinding to reach.

I second the motion. Points(GT4)/Experience(GT5) being done away with is good. I'll admit that hindering progress in GT5 is more annoying than arbitrary points from 4 but ultimately it's better to keep things simpler.
Here's to hoping they add good cars this time around (S12 Silvias, etc..).

About 120 new cars being added this time around (No S12 Silvias, sorry Limbrooke).

Among the new cars, a fucking lunar rover.

I had a buddy of mine throw a tweet over to Yamauchi. Perhaps I need to rally the troops on Club-S12 to get more sway in the next batch of added cars....

Will SCEA release a Collector's Edition of GT6? I recall paying a premium for the earlier GT5 CE set when it made it's grand debut back in the day.

In other racing news Project C.A.R.S. has been cancelled for PS360 and will come out on the new consoles instead in 2014.
Which saddens me, as I think this game will outplay both GT6 and Forza 5 and I don't plan to buy any new consoles :(

I've noticed on Play Asia, that SCEI will be releasing both a JPN region PS3 version & a PS3 Asian version of the Gran Turismo 6 Collector's Edition bundled set for a whopping $199.99 USD. Comes with a Kyosho manufactured die-cast metal collectable car as well along with some other cool GT6 themed swag.

Was hoping that SCEA would do the same with a GT6 CE set for the North American PS3 marketbase but it seems unlikely.

Went to my local Gamestop joint today to pick up a copy of the much-hyped GT6 release for the PS3 platform. Upon inserting it in the PS3's disc slot, a message appeared saying that a new version of GT6 version 1.01 was available to DL. Proceeded with the obligatory DL upgrade that's a whopping 1,207MB file. Damn! After that intial v1.01 file d/l, another update is needed even before the main title screen/intro movie plays. WTF!? (In hindsight, the GT5 installed file size was a bloated 11GB file straight to the PS3's HDD if you wanted to have a bit of shorter access times rather than streaming off the BD-Rom disc itself.)

Of course, the GS copy of GT6 came with two DLC brochures: one for the bonus 25 different 15th Anniversary GT cars with special liveries & enhancements + Custom paint chips, a race suit, helmet and assorted GT6 themed avatars. The 2nd DLC paperwork is a free 7-Day trial for Sony's Playstation Plus program.

Will see just how big this DLC file size for the 25 cars & extra bonus swag really is.

No 3D Glasses support this time around (like with the earlier GT5 release that had it from the get-go).

GT6 is available as a Day-1 Digital Download off of the USA region PSN site as well.

You're given an initial 30,000 credits to buy your 1st car at the various dealerships.

The overall file size for the 15th Anniversary cars collection is a miniscule 707.3kb d/l and entails the following listed items:

GT6 Car Avatar - 100kb
GT6 Helmet Avatar - 107.3kb
GT6 Legacy Avatar - 100kb
GT6 Logo Avatar - 100kb
GT6 15th Anniversary Racing Suit & Helmet - 100kb
GT6 15th Anniversary Paint Pack - 100kb
GT6 25 Car Pack - 100kb

First hour of gameplay for those interested.

I have only skimmed the video at this point, but I'm wondering wtf is that cone event 44 minutes in. That kind of thing has no place in a GT game.

After the 12-digit DLC code for the 15th Anniversary car collection is entered through the PSN site, you'll be able to have access to these particular cars in your garage and "Claim as a Gift":

V16T 15th Anniv '94
R8 LMS ultra 15th Anniv '12
Corvette Stingray (C7) 15th Anniv '14
Shelby GT500 15th Anniv '13
HSV-010 GT 15th Anniv '11
X-Bow R 15th Anniv '12
IS F Racing Concept 15th Anniv '08
SLS AMG GT3 15th Anniv '13
GT-R Nismo GT3 15th Anniv '13
Model S Signature Performance 15th Anniv '12
Scirocco GT24 15th Anniv '08
Viper GTS 15th Anniv '13
Z8 15th Anniv '01
STRATOS 15th Anniv '73
GT-40 Mark 1 15th Anniv '66
A110 1600S 15th Anniv '72
Europa S.2 15th Anniv '68
Megane Trophy 15th Anniv '11
R18 TDI 15th Anniv '11
Corvette Coupe (C2) 15th Anniv '63
Focus ST 15th Anniv '13
Huayra 15th Anniv '13
Cobra Daytona Coupe 15th Anniv '64
Quattro S1 Rally Car 15th Anniv '86
86 GT 15th Anniv '12

Plenty of cool cars to choose from in your garage compared to buying the regular edition of GT6 elsewhere.

Motherslipping coffee breaks? I agree with you that it has no place in a GT game mostly since they aren't quite "breaks" in my experience. I didn't like them in GT4 and I was alright with the fact they got rid of them in GT5. A football stadium and hundreds of cones...

A glitch has been found to get as many credits as you want thus avoiding the games microtransactions:

http://youtu.be/fLaeE97AaxQ

Only works if you own the retail version of GT6 as you need version 1.0 which you won't get when buying it from the PSN.

That is too good. I'm expecting the views on that video to be a million by tomorrow. No microtransactions for Sony, all GT6 cars now free!

I thought it was interesting that the Gamestop preorder game was an actual cover variant with the code inside the package, rather than same with code on receipt.

It was also refreshing to see that Gamestop hasn't changed a bit in the years since I've shopped there. I was generally treated as a stupid customer, as they took on the all knowing expert role on everything that came up in casual conversation. What a shitty retailer this continues to be, and fuck retailer exclusives.

Collecting 1000 cars for the sake of a trophy in GT5 was one of the stupidest things I ever did in gaming and I promised myself to never do something like that again.

Ancient topic, but unlockables are only bad when the activities required to unlock them are mundane. I don't have any history of unlocking stuff in GT series, but vehicular games that got it right are abundant.
Then again, Japanese car games devs don't quite seem to have left their ivory tower since PlayStation days.

The unlocks in other games might not be as aggravating as GT, but they're still not a good thing. I've never looked at a car/character/track/mode/whatever select screen and thought, "man, I wish some of this stuff was unavailable until I perform like a monkey."

KAI wrote:Damage. Who needs that shit?
Funny story, when I was a kid, I would always judge racing games on how much damage details you could see and how much damage you could inflict on other racers. When I first played Gran Turismo 3 and Need For Speed Underground 1 and 2, I was very disappointed to say the least. I must have overdosed too much on Burnout games  I have to say that the Gran Turismo games are fun in a sense for what they are; simulators, they offer a nice change of pace from the chaos of arcade racers. The best arcade racers IMO are Burnout 3, Burnout Revenge, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and Midnight Club 2 (Which IMO had the best soundtrack out of all the Midnight Club games, I love the heavy emphasis on all of those amazing trance music tracks.)
