Re: Personal Favorites
Image fight but NES version... some weeks ago i played it in nes emulator again ( first time i played this game was maybe in 1993)...i still love some music themes and...few months ago i found the nes soundtrack
Axelay thanks god i could played this game in 1999 ( i rented it )..and thnx emulator i had on my pc and was really fun.
so very good game...and is a snes old game
Raystorm was the first playstation shmup that i played
with my brother and the first time we just could reach the stage 4, ( the asteroids / space stage)
i was very happy when i could finish all the game, the first time in Arcade mode ...i really like a lot the soundtrack, the stage ( the space, secilia, stage 5 and 7...the robots..
and i think in tha last stage, it sounds a woman voice saying me..."relax...relax"
i preffer believe i heard right
after finished it ...sometimes i played it again just for "relax"
but the 13 ships mode looks almost imposible....
and others ...hmm...
Einhänder....gr8 game, great levels, great music, i really like games that you have to change weapons ( like Axelay) and change speed ( like Image fight)
Twin Bee( Nes) Star force ( NES) and maybe Gyrodine (nes) because i really like visit my uncle home to play it.
Darius Force snes and darius gaiden only for the music lol
that were my favourite for many years and any time i would like to plaay it again ( maybe i forgot someone)
and some recently games...that i enjoyed are:
Rayforce ..after i finished Raystorm i was looking in internet about Rays series, and i likes this.
Ikaruga ... a very nice game...the only problem is too short...i enjoyed a lot
Radiant Silvergun.....awesome boss battles......really good game
i can say they are my favourites

Call me vanilla, but I really love the Raiden series (Raiden I, II, and DX especially).
I like how it's got great risk vs reward, is challenging without being unfair or intimidating, and has great sound. I love the music and that nice deep bass rumble you get when you blow up a big tank =D.
It feels like a really well-balanced game to me. Fond memories of the SNES version, back before I knew that ports were generally a bad thing =P.

I love the Raiden games, though due to their emulation status on MAME Ive never really tried beating any of them. When Raiden II becomes fully emulated in MAME in 50 years time I wont be playing anything else.Blackbird wrote:Call me vanilla, but I really love the Raiden series (Raiden I, II, and DX especially).

Re: Personal Favorites
One game I don't see much discussion on that I've enjoyed a lot in MAME is St. Dragon. It's good old fashioned R Type hard and having to use the tail as a weapon/defense gives it some interesting strategy elements.
Feedback will set you free.
