Good point. I'll just ignore posts I disagree with and try not to get into an argument. Still, I do try to post in a way not to offend anyone and a comment still got taken the wrong way. However, I'm offended by the suggestion that I'm baised towards the GBA or that I like it too much. Also, I was not purposely trying to put opinions down. I was only trying to show people that they were wrong (but not forcing the issue if they disagree with my points or trying to force someone to like something they dislike. I say some things over becuase I'm not only talking to one person and becuase some posts imply that some of what I said has been ignored or misinterperted.) and only for stuff I thought was wrong no matter what. The reason I want the mods to do something is becuase this happens all the time. I don't care if people agree or disagree, I just want those pissy comments, rude comebacks, and etc. to stop. Well anyway, I'm excited that a new Gunstar is coming to the GBA. I hope it turns out well.UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:^ I think a lot of people's opinion about Axelay (that it's a 1/10 game) is totally wrong. I can't tell them they are outright wrong if they don't like it.
Gunstar Super Heroes -- on GBA, screens inside!

We don't need mods to tell people who have opinions to not state them. I'm surprised this thread isn't already closed. it IS a discussion board. we're supposed to argue about this stuff.
and just like you were trying to prove to me that the GBA is better than i think, i was trying to prove to you that it's not that great. It's fair both ways. Neither of us are gonna change each other's mind, so we should drop it.
the music in zero mission still sounds like butt. and astro boy has too much slowdown. i'd rather play genesis games.
i hope gunstar super heroes comes out being really great

Again, this is what I'm taking about. I don't want the mods to tell people not to state opinions. I want arguments that stem from people making rude comments to stop. You took my comment the wrong way yet again! I just want people to stop being pissy and state their opinions without putting others down like you just did to me. I want this taking posts the wrong way and misunderstandings to stop. Nobody else would have found that comment I made about the headphones offensive and I'm pissed that nobody else seems to find your reply to it rude. Instead, I get accused of not respecting other's opinions when it's not just my opinion being put down. BTW, it's not just in topics about GBA where the rude and pissy comments occur, it's when people state their love for just about any system. The recent Saturn topic is a good example.BUHA wrote:We don't need mods to tell people who have opinions to not state them. Also, I'm not trying to prove to you that the GBA is better than you think. I'm trying to clear up misconceptions and false info so people won't get mislead. BUHA, you are the only one who said that Metroid Zero Mission on GBA sounds like complete crap. IMO, it has one of the best and most atmospheric sountracks on GBA. I didn't find the sound in it very crackly and I think it's definatly of better quality than the sound in Gradius Galaxies. Not liking the soundtrack is one thing, but considering the quality of the soundtrack is that game, saying that it's complete crap (which implies that it's an amauter soundtrack) is way off base.
Now lets get back to the posts. BUHA, if you want me to shut up, you should keep quiet it too. If you replied to my comments about the headphones politely and didn't come back with more rude comments after I replied, I would have shut up a long time ago.

i dont want you to shut up. i LIKE these posts. they're fun! this is what message boards are all about. if everyone gets along it's no fun at all.
you didnt have to get all butthurt though. im just some nerdy kid from california that doesn't like the GBA. get over it.
and yes, i'm still mad about the "did you choose stereo?" and IF it was mono, it wouldnt sound any worse, just the same thing coming out of both channels. i dont see how that'd keep it from sounding crackly. it'd just have the same amount of crackly coming atcha from both directions!

I really wasn't going to keep my hopes up too much with this, but after seeng the videos it's impossible not to! it really looks like they're going to do this one right. The game looks really fast paced and action packed.
I recognized a lot of the music from the original, and while it doesn't sound the same, at least the nostalgia will be there and the orignal BGM is awesome, so i guess that's better than having new lame music.
Also, it looks like there are a lot more platforms and maybe better level design in this new one. some people complain about the lack of creativity in the first one, with some of the levels just being flat and a bunch of bad guys coming at you, which is understandable. maybe they'll fix that problem in the sequel.
either way, i can't wait!

Finally, I've found something to nitpick about this game. The last boss in that video has a woman controlling it, but the woman doesn't move at all! It bothers me quite a bit. Let's hope Treasure fix that for the final version.

Sqoon/Alex Vo fron TNL and Got Next has some excellent impressions of the first level play on Gunstar Super Heroes at E3:
http://got-next.com/features_read.php?id=149
He says despite the large sprites and not as many enemies, it is every bit as intense as the original and he fought a big orange boss which took up half the screen with exploitable arms and...no slowdown. Whoo.
Thanks to Frogacuda for finding this 7 minute video on 1up.com:
http://www.1up.com/do/download?cId=3139811
Excellent new pictures on Sega's new Jap official site for the game:
http://sega.jp/gba/gunstar/home.html
Time to get a GB player for my GC.
EDIT:
Sam Kennedy from 1up.com has comments on gameplay in a multi page feature. Also interesting comments from Maegawa, he said he wanted to wait until the entire original team was available again and not working on separate games before they attempted a proper sequel. Maegawa also gets extra points for saying he never wanted to simply port the first game.

At least here in the USA, Astro Boy's slowdown was not awful. It happened from time to time but it never got in the way of my enjoyment of the game (unlike, for example, R-Type Final, which I stopped playing thanks to it's slowdown problems).
The GBA is a stronger system, graphically, than the Genesis. It's absolutely absurd to cite the Sonic Advance games vs the original Sonic The Hedgehog, as they look better and hit speeds far greater than anything I encountered in the original games. The original games have better design, but Sonic Advance 2 is unbelievably fast moving and the graphics are extremely crisp.
As for Gunstar Super Heroes, I think the video at 1up.com speaks for itself. This is going to rule.

I went to E3 this year and got to play the demo, and I can tell you for sure that there was NO slowdown whatsoever. Overall the game has the same flow / feeling as the original, and the only thing that might need some tightening up is the controls -- I felt they were a little too loose, with the character moving slightly after I stopped pressing left or right. Perhaps it was just me getting used to the SP control pad again (been using my DS to play GBA games)though....or the greasy GBA = ewww. Graphically, it was freakin' awesome with a lot of detail. I couldn't hear the sound, too much noise going on. And I thought it was an absolute blast, but extremely difficult. The demo started a short distance from a (mini?)boss, and it proceeded to kick my ass a great number of times before I got the hang of it. Anyways, this is definitely on my list for must-haves.
Oh, and Castlevania DS is drop-dead gorgeous!

Thanks for the excellent impressions, aesthetik. Did you also get a chance to play New SMB? That's another 2D game I am heavily anticipating. I went to E3 3 years ago, had a blast. Wish I coulda gone this year.aesthetik wrote:I went to E3 this year and got to play the demo, and I can tell you for sure that there was NO slowdown whatsoever. i had a dream the other night where i got to play this. i was really disappointed because it turned out Treasure had created these trailers as a mock up of what they "wanted" to do, and the final ended up much worse. slowdown, uglier than the pretty Gunstar Heroes, and a yawning bore to play.
the only reason i mention is, i checked the topic and couldn't remember for a minute if my memory was a dream. clear logic doesn't always win outright.

I have no sig whatsoever.
Actually, I didn't see it there, but I kinda avoided a section that was absolutely crowded so I'm assuming it was there next to that Pokemon game. Thanks for the excellent impressions, aesthetik. I do, however, want to say that in addition to Castlevania, both Nanostray + Another Code (or Trace Memory, whatever they are calling it now) are very very cool. Another Code plays out like an updated King's Quest, with all controls and menus using the stylus. It's got a unique art style and I can tell it's defnitely gonna test my brain. I hope people support this one, even though I know a lot will be turned off by its pacing. And, as for Nanostray, it looked damn good and, like Gunstar, is pretty tough. Anyways, looks like my DS will finally be getting some good use in the upcoming months
