The game's a fun companion to Arika's PS2 port of White Label at the very least, owing to its incredibly dodgy origins.

I thought post-patch DOJBLEX's port of Black Label was considered decent at the very least? I know EOJ praised its accuracy quite highly.

Glad I got mine before the crackdown put the price up!

Decent? It's a bloody must-have! A superb port of one of the best games ever, and X Mode is a really fhn arrange too - better than many of Cave's own.BIL wrote:I thought post-patch DOJBLEX's port of Black Label was considered decent at the very least? I know EOJ praised it quite highly.

Aye, that was always the stuff I heard. It certainly got a drubbing earlier on but I nabbed it right before it got trickier to acquire post-patch. Naughty 5pb!

RNM can be purchased from the GoD service for less than a 2nd hand copy will cost you. No IP lock either IIRC.Bonus! wrote:and so is Radirgy Nova Massive.

It's funny that people (who usually haven't even played it) slag off the DOJ port when it uses the exact same code base as the highly regarded PS2 port.

The DOJBL port used to have all kinds of issues but it got patched (a lot) later. It's a perfectly good port now.

The only bummer about the DOJ port is that screen smoothing can't be turned off (or can it?).

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
It was supposedly disabled with the new patch, but it's never consistent for me. Usually after playing a few rounds, I'll notice it being disabled on the demonstration screen, but then it's applied again when I start the actual game. I think like twice ever has it been disabled in the actual game.jepjepjep wrote:The only bummer about the DOJ port is that screen smoothing can't be turned off (or can it?).

Other than that, it plays just fine...

Isn't it lacking in training options too or something?jepjepjep wrote:The only bummer about the DOJ port is that screen smoothing can't be turned off (or can it?).

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
Honestly, if the game booted off of a DOS type screen, took five minutes to load, and had no options whatsoever, it would still be an incredibly accurate port of DOJ BL, and therefore still be a must buy.AntiFritz wrote:Isn't it lacking in training options too or something?jepjepjep wrote:The only bummer about the DOJ port is that screen smoothing can't be turned off (or can it?).

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
DOJ on 360 seemed fine to me when I played it earlier this year a bit. I'm terrible at it, but like, it seemed to be running as intended, and nevr crashed or anything. The load times on the menus are kind of bad I guess, but everything else was fine. X-mode is kind of mean though; so much easier all the way through, and then you get to the final boss and lose EVERYTHING on the last phase. Bleh.
...don't mind me, I was just passing through to see what people were saying about this port.

Minus the load time, this is actually how I wish all ports were.Skykid wrote:Honestly, if the game booted off of a DOS type screen, took five minutes to load, and had no options whatsoever, it would still be an incredibly accurate port

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
I'm satisfied as of right now. I like DOJ BLK but Ketsui is just boss. I'm just glad to finally own it after playing it on emulator for so long. I just can't bring myself to buy a 5th Xbox either. I hope nobody misinterprets that for anti-Microsoft jargon. I just haven't had any problems with my PS3. Having the option to import freely definitely was a plus as in Ketsui's case.
Hopefully the whole "Sony opens arms to indie developers" schpeil means we'll have more stuff ported over. I'll like to see Ginga Force, Strania, Senko no Ronde DUO, and hopefully either Bullet Soul and/or SDOJ. Being modest but who expected Ketsui

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
That shitty menu system on the 360 port-
. By the time you get into the game, you're ready to play something else.
The game itself is fine, though. Own the 360 port mostly because I was bored and had money to blow. Only play the PS2 port, really.

Just watched part of the superplay BD, SPS lost only one life in the entire type-A ura loop, what an impressive run.

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
Just the other day SPS posted on twitter or something that he got 595 million with a death in 2-4 somewhere. Probably at the start of the stage. If he manages to no miss the game he'll clear 600 million.
Too bad too. He had 4 or 5 bombs in stock when he died. He had a pretty good chance of no missing the game there.MSZ wrote:Just watched part of the superplay BD, SPS lost only one life in the entire type-A ura loop, what an impressive run.

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
On thursday I got my copy and I´m very impressed by the game.
Graphics, musik, sound and presentation, and bullet patterns are awesome and I like the scoring system.
Yes,the game is very hard and I change the difficulty quick to "easy"!
Easy means not really easy, after three days I get it to stage 4(Mid Boss)in X-Mode with one credit and now need a lot more practise to beat the Mid boss in stage 4 without credit feeding...
It`s so funny and I´m lucky to play Ketsui finally

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
Correct except on Ura Loop - Type B that belongs to スガイSTG部 with a score of 519,126,843. SPS got 518,237,076 on his BD run and I believe this is his highest score for the Ura Loop - Type B. Still this is an impressive superplay. Wish they could have included some runs on the X-Mode though. At least we have MrMonkeyMan's video for some inspiration and guidance.Bonus! wrote:Yes. How many ppl is there on the online leader-boards? Other ppl have said that it's small in number but I wonder just how small it is.
I don't have a PS3 but I'll eventually import myself a copy at some point.

Stage 4 is still destroying me at points (I play Type-B). Stage 5 is just simply mindfucking me. It's going to be a while before I even beat this game, nevermind Ura/Omote or EVAC Doom lmao.

I received my copy of Ketsui (LE) from Solaris Japan today. I'm very happy with their service and can highly recommend them. Now I only have to get a PS3.
