Sweet Victory. Or something.
I'm running out of things to say.
----------------------------
Ikazu-san - Twinkle Star Sprites - La Petite Princesse (ARC) - Story Mode 6 - 463.560

Oh look, another Phantasmagoria! Would be free points if I knew that there's shielded enemies JUST to mess up your killchain and the fireballs are fierce.
----------------------------
Ikazu-san - ALLTYNEX Second - Normal 2 - 4.548.020

Oooo-kay, I don't remember instant game over laser. I bet it wiped my stats and special bonus too.
----------------------------
Ikazu-san - Violent Soldier - 3 - 115.500

Speed ups that can be lost is a crime.
----------------------------
Ikazu-san - TwinBee (ARC) - 2 Boss - 102.200

MEEEEH.
----------------------------
Ikazu-san - Blast Wind - 3 - 348.860

Crashed right after stage 2 boss.
----------------------------
Score so far: 6+2+3+2+3=16

I mean Dim.Dream, not Twinkle Star. At least for me it looks like a miracle to even run two screens properly on PC-98.
Damn, misunderstandings like this is what always happen when you've been taught English by videogames and internet. At least I don't have bad Russian accent.

Ok, less "go home kid" and more "play PoDD" more then. PoDD is great.

iast - Battle Mania Daiginjo - Stage 3
Didn't even make it as far as I did on my first ever credit. :(

iast - Cybattler - Stage 2
Haven't touched this since TRP-STGT, forgot how much of an asshole the stage 2 boss is.

iast - Dragon Saber - Stage 2
Don't know this game that well so yeah.

iast - Curse - Stage 3
This is really close to being a decent game but the frame rate is ATROCIOUS.

iast - Moero! TwinBee: Cinnamon-hakase wo Sukue! - Stage 2
Even on Famicom, TwinBee is evil.

My roll for this week:

S_Fang - Armed Police Unit Gallop/Cosmic Cop - Area B (didn't reach the boss) - 116360 2 I remember playing this game years ago when I discovered MAME. It was and is still hard, especially handling the speed in order to dodge obstacles and not slam into enemies.

S_Fang - Salamander - Stage 3 - 274700 3 The game is amazing, switching between vertical and horizontal scrolling is not this confusing. Not so amazing the punishing power down in case of death.

S_Fang - Gunnail - Stage 3 - 193300 3 Nice game, but the low-health siren is annoying like in Dangerous Seed. >_<

S_Fang - Metal Black - Round 3 - 161930 3 Awesome game, with an apocalyptic's atmosphere and amazing boss fights: contrasting the boss' energy ray with your energy ray that creates an anti-matter sphere is a great show.

S_Fang - ASO: Armored Scrum Object - Area 3 - 82860 3 The armors' gimmick is cool, but is less cool when you start from checkpoints, power downs and bosses with ridiculous patterns (the 2nd boss is a massive bastard).

Wow, not bad last week. This one is probably a bit less promising, but it should still be fun.

Code: Select all

LordHypnos - Hydorah - 2 - 32,500(?)
LordHypnos - Samidare - 3 - 19,579,276 (restart used)
LordHypnos - Triggerheart Exelica (360) - Crueltear, autoswing off - 3 - 20,906,274
LordHypnos - Kamui - 2 - 3,290,400
LordHypnos - Aero Chimera - 1 - ?
2+3+3+2+1=11
I wonder if I'll be able to remember how to get through the first bit of Hydorah... or Samidare for that matter
~~~
Kamui sure makes me appreciate the fact that in Rayforce you can shoot while using the lock on. Also, isn't it cool how in Rayforce you get feedback for getting hit so you don't feel like a bullet sponge :roll:
Little bit depressing how much I've forgotten about Samidare. I didn't even avoid anareta's 2nd to last attack this time :(
Does anyone else have trouble remembering to bomb in games that have a secondary weapon or ability in addition? particularly if it's one that can cancel bullets. Still, I'm surprised I managed to get to stage 3 in THE
All in all, I drew almost all really fun games this time. Wanted to keep playing pretty much all of them.
Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label
SRD: Super Real Darwin
Paranoia
SideLine
Gunnail
First time hearing about SideLine, looks cool! DOJBL...well, let's see how far I can make it this time...
---
RESULTS:
Heavy Viper - Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label - TypeB/Shot - St. 4 - 24,438,740
Heavy Viper - SRD: Super Real Darwin - St. 2 - 30,000-ish
Heavy Viper - Paranoia - St. 3 - no score?
Heavy Viper - SideLine (DOS) - St. 3 - 268,390
Heavy Viper - Gunnail (MAME) - St. 4 - 308,100
***2ND ATTEMPT USED UP!***
TOTAL: 16,000,000
---
Well, Paranoia is at least honest enough to flip you the bird after every level. SRD was...interesting, Gunnail was a class NMK act, but I have to say that SideLine is the one that stands out most to me. Bloody decent effort - I'll be playing it again!
Also, Paranoia locked up in the middle of stage 3 in Ootake, so I guess I have to call it there.
Rolls for this week:
S_Fang - Legendary Wings - Area 1 - 55300 What an hard game, so difficult to aim at the ground enemies.
S_Fang - Omega Fighter - Mission 3 - 305450 I heard of a game about destroying a massive starship, but I never knew about the point blank multiplier like Ketsui (it did a much better job, despite not being the first) and slow-motion bombs (not very useful). Really, a surprise.
S_Fang - Mystic Riders / Gun Hohki - Stage 3 - 155700 A cute game about throwing a flying broom to damage enemies and cancel bullets. Is difficult to pull the rotation technic, though. :?
S_Fang - Dragon Blaze - Rob - Area 3 - 168500 As always, Psikyo games and their mechanics of charging the secondary weapon gives me the hard time.
S_Fang - Batsugun Special Ver. - Jeeno - Stage 4 - 2040410 I know this version is easier than the original, but it so fun to play. It pulls off greatly the main gimmick of maniac shooters and Bullet Hells.
Code: Select all
R-Type
Guwange
USAAF Mustang
Touhou 13: Ten Desires
Darius Gaiden
I could play TH13 on Lunatic, but if I do it on Normal I have the chance to clear it (like I did the last time I rolled it) and get 5 extra points anyway as well as the 6 for the stages...
Edit: Okay screw it I rerolled Radio Zonde because I have too little idea of what's going on to even tell what stage I'm on and I feel like I've accidentally enabled some infinite lives thing because I keep dying and the game never ends and I have no idea why, so yeah. Darius Gaiden instead.
Code: Select all
Shepardus - R-Type (Hard) - 2 - 73500
Turns out setting the difficulty dipswitch to hard makes a bigger difference than I thought it would. Either that or I don't remember the first two stages as well as I thought I did. Well, so much for that challenge.
Code: Select all
Shepardus - Guwange - Shishin - 3 (Boss) - 582800
Almost defeated spidercat, but not quite enough.
Code: Select all
Shepardus - USAAF Mustang - 1 - 11800
I couldn't have done worse if I were trying to run into the bullets.
Code: Select all
Shepardus - Touhou 13: Ten Desires (Normal) - Reimu - ALL (6 stages) - 239,161,400
Clear again!
Code: Select all
Shepardus - Darius Gaiden - 3 - 797340
Farthest I've gotten on Darius Gaiden I think? Boss fights take way too long without autofire if you've died and lost shot power >_>
Total score: 20 (2 + 3 + 1 + 6 + 3 + ALL)
From those options, I'd probably pick Guwange to try at max difficulty. Remember there are difficulty dip switch options. But I can't 1cc Guwange anyway(best I've done is stage 5), and I don't think it'd be too much harder to get to Stage 3 on it.
Loop 16:
system11 - Twin Bee Yahhoo! - 2 - 333620
system11 - Strike Gunner STG (hardest) - 1 - (unknown score, wouldn't show me when I died)
system11 - Hellfire - 1 - 4xxxx
system11 - Fixeight - 3 - 364180
system11 - Gunbird 2 - 3 - 175100
Roulette hates me, only games I suck at this time. A hopeless 10 points. Hellfire doesn't seem to work properly for me, I was having to micro tap the controls to change weapon type, stumbled through the level OK but at the boss it was hopeless. No autofire wasn't turned on, can't explain it.
Post by S_Fang »
This loop wasn't easy just for the games at max difficult, but because I had ro re-roll for games with dip switches settings on (I'm using MAME, for most of the games):
S_Fang - Insector X - Stage 5 - 624200 5 Is increadible how this game can be easy (or managebale, at least) if you have lots of power-ups, but if you die multiple times it becomes hard as nails.
S_Fang - Wonder Planet - Stage 3 - 21300 3 The shop gimmick is interesting, but the fact that you have to buy the weapons multiple times because they're consumables is very annoying (except when you die and a duplicate can come in handy). Also, fuck the Stage 2 boss and his irritating bullets (I really despise bombs in vertical shmups, now).
S_Fang - Fantasy Zone - Stage 3 - 68200 3 I knew about this game and played it a bit on Master System's emulator, but the arcade is really good. I find pretty unique the freedom of movements, as well killing all the pods of the area in order to spawn the boss (I know that oter genres did that, but is rare in a shmup).
S_Fang - Hacha Mecha Fighter - Stage 3 - 1997500 3 3 This game is really weird, but manageable until the third level with those maniac dolphins.
S_Fang - Thunder Dragon 2 - Stage 3 - 583940 3 Interesting game, but the slow speed is annoying and coerce you to move carefully if you want to drift the bullets away from you. Also, the voice-over is worthy to be in one of those list oabout "worst videogame voice acting", so ridiculous.
TOTAL: "22,000,000"
I misunderstood the order, I didn't have to play all the game on max difficulty but only one, but is fine as I have to improve my skills.
