Everything from Thin Lizzy.

Iam expanding my Rock/Metal CDs collection at the moment and this band is awesome, it is a shame i only recently discovered them.
Another shame it is that they also did not exist anymore, but Black Star Riders (spiritual successor) are also awesome.

The first (eponymous) Deine Lakaien album. Used to neglect it because on the Dark Star Tour album Veljanov sung some of these songs better, but now I find it quite charming as a whole.

Throatruiner is easily the best netlabel out there. I can't wait for the next Cowards release. Also, check out Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire if you haven't.
Feedback will set you free.

not albums, but a few tracks.

Dntel (Jimmy Tamborello, Postal Service) - Don't get your hopes up

Kid Koala - Gorillaz Routine

recommended for aphex twin (early) and µ-Ziq fans:

Modeselektor - I Love You

SBTRKT - Atomic Peace

SBTRKT - Go Bang

is SBTRKT well known in the UK and elsewhere?

I think I have to thank szycag, because I think it's him who talked about the Cardiacs and made me check them out. A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window is fantastic and it's stolen my heart away from Opeth's new album, which I like a lot and miss terribly.

Opeth - Pale Communion

I am no big fan of this band, but I find the songs Eternal Rains Will Come and Faith in Others extremely good (especially the former, great track!). I also have a soft spot for Cusp of Eternity.

P-MODEL「美術館で会った人だろ」(ART MANIA)

Like this song more after I found translated lyrics. Amazing Japanese band

You met someone in a dream world
There’s no doubt about it
You met someone in a dream world
There’s no doubt about it
I watch as drying blood stains my hands
I think you said “I love you” #
You met someone in a dream world
There’s no doubt about it

One person playing alone
The door is shut and bolted
I want this emptiness with you to be a good thing

The window glass, the window glass, the window glass
I’ll smash it

You met someone at the art museum,
There’s no doubt about it
You met someone at the art museum,
There’s no doubt about it
Pointing at a beautiful face,
You said I was like a child, crying
You met someone at the art museum,
There’s no doubt about it

Why do we meet here in the city?
You know I always get excited…
I just want to have a less empty relationship with you!

In the museum, in the museum, in the museum
I set a fire

I know! A lot of them remind me of LSD on PSX. The 1979-80 stuff is extra nervy though where that stuff is more sequenced. It's more like YMO or something. But it's still really good.

I've been listening these F-1 themed J-Fusion albums and I'm obsessed with them:
Impressions ~ Formula 1 World Championship ~
Truth 2000 ~ Formula 1 World Championship ~
Images ~ Formula 1 World Championship '93 ~
Memories ~ For the Legendary World Champions ~

Shuichi Aoki - Pole Position
Isamu Ohashi - Trapped in the Race

Anyone here into J-Fusion?

Started listening to Swans recently. Ended up with a "The Seer" shaped denomination of music store credit and lo it is my current favourite album. My friend is seeing them in about 8 months and I expect to be quite jealous indeed by then.

The new Aphex is really growing on me, after the initial disappointment at the lack of weirdness. The craftsmanship was obvious from the get go, but the songs have taken a few listens to really click.

Aphex Twin trying to be 'weird' always felt forced to me. The analord series really underlines what an exceptional composer he is. Free from excess, the subtleties in the drum sequencing in particular really shine through. SYRO is pretty awesome, but as a triple album is pretty unwieldy. At least could have mucked around with the track order and made it a 45rpm album :(

I really can't tell what people wanted from Aphex Twin besides another Come to Daddy or Windowlicker. I wanted more FM synth fuckery from The Tuss stuff and more intricate gear tinkering from the Analord stuff. I got both in spades. He seemed to have nothing to prove and delivered what his most devout fans want. I guess a big left turn on the following material would be good, but this album is excellent. Glad I got the triple vinyl, although I don't usually pay this much for an album that doesn't have cool art... not that it isn't an interesting concept

Neurotic Outsiders by Neurotic Outsiders (dudes of The Sex Pistols, Guns 'N' Roses & Duran Duran). When BIL posted this, I reslised I'd never listened to it (having read a glowing review back in the day). Internet to the rescue! It's pretty amusing (the lyrics). Not too shabby music video, too.

Fox Capture Plan - Wall
I'm assuming this is a mixture of covers and original material. Found this band recently and wish I could find someplace that has their music on sale besides digital options. I like having physical copies! But besides that a Jazzy trio of piano, acoustic bass and drums. As for the album itself, there's of all things a cover of the Radiohead tune Paranoid Android and a YMO cover as well. Quite nice upbeat jazzy music this is, and if that is your thing, I recommend it.

The stylistic changes between his previous albums were pretty dramatic, so I think a lot of people (myself included) were expecting a game changer, especially after such a long hiatus. Instead, we more or less got a continuation of the trajectory he's been on post-Druqks, which is less left-field and more dance oriented than anything he's released under the Aphex moniker since SAW 1.

With an album this anticipated, there's also the factor of pre-release gorging on old material, which has the effect of making anything new compete against the combined weight of his entire discography. I think a degree of disappointment was inevitable, but once I got over what the album wasn't (a time machine to make me 15 again), I could begin to appreciate it for what it is.

Definitely agree on the 3LP thing. It could have easily been 2, and that middle disc is kind of a pain to get out without three hands.

---

My first impressions of the new Carribou are very positive.

+1 here on SYRO and You're Dead!
Both fantastic albums.
Even though i love Aphex's later output (well, a decade ago) my heart has always been beating stronger for his early stuff (Ambient Works etc.) so i felt complete and utter bliss when me and a couple of friends intensely listened through the triple vinyl yesterday evening. Definitely one of this year's best albums. No doubt about it whatsoever.
You're Dead! is also an incredibly stimulating listening experience with a couple of standout tracks.
Kendrick's blazing stream-of-consciousness rapping on Never Catch Me is a totally standout moment.
Coronus, The Terminator is one of the most chill tracks i've ever heard. Goose bumps everywhere.
All in all a fantastic album to listen to when you're up in space on some real good sativa.
