Alt-J - An Awesome Wave
Can't get enough of this. Finally get to see these guys live in a few months.
A "rockstar" from my country of origins said wherever Thin Lizzy plays, always good people come there.gbaplayer wrote:Everything from Thin Lizzy.
Throatruiner is easily the best netlabel out there. I can't wait for the next Cowards release. Also, check out Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire if you haven't.Klatrymadon wrote:Pure filth featuring members of Primitive Man. Can't get enough of this EP.

Shuichi Aoki - Pole Position
Isamu Ohashi - Trapped in the Race
Anyone here into J-Fusion?
Started listening to Swans recently. Ended up with a "The Seer" shaped denomination of music store credit and lo it is my current favourite album. My friend is seeing them in about 8 months and I expect to be quite jealous indeed by then.railslave wrote:Swans - White light from the mouth of infinity

Aphex Twin trying to be 'weird' always felt forced to me. The analord series really underlines what an exceptional composer he is. Free from excess, the subtleties in the drum sequencing in particular really shine through. SYRO is pretty awesome, but as a triple album is pretty unwieldy. At least could have mucked around with the track order and made it a 45rpm albumKrooze L-Roy wrote:The new Aphex is really growing on me, after the initial disappointment at the lack of weirdness. The craftsmanship was obvious from the get go, but the songs have taken a few listens to really click.

The stylistic changes between his previous albums were pretty dramatic, so I think a lot of people (myself included) were expecting a game changer, especially after such a long hiatus. Instead, we more or less got a continuation of the trajectory he's been on post-Druqks, which is less left-field and more dance oriented than anything he's released under the Aphex moniker since SAW 1.szycag wrote:I really can't tell what people wanted from Aphex Twin besides another Come to Daddy or Windowlicker. I wanted more FM synth fuckery from The Tuss stuff and more intricate gear tinkering from the Analord stuff. I got both in spades. He seemed to have nothing to prove and delivered what his most devout fans want. I guess a big left turn on the following material would be good, but this album is excellent. Glad I got the triple vinyl, although I don't usually pay this much for an album that doesn't have cool art... not that it isn't an interesting concept
it's a beautiful album. now i need to get the other 3 volumes.options wrote:
