Can we all stop bickering about consoles and focus on the real issues here, like why there is a shield meter instead of lives, and what that "characters" section is for on the official site?

The screenshots revealed two new jets. I'm curious about how the Cheer system will work. By the way, according to a spanish site, the level gameplay will constantly change "Zanac-style".

I wonder how each plane will differ in playstyle, and I'm loving the designs for the two new ones, especially the forward swept wing one. But I also hope the Raiden MK-II also makes a comeback to bring the 25th anniversary full circle. I'm also liking the fact that the gameplay will be changing constantly, and I am very pleased to hear one website mentioning that this game will feature the most levels in a Raiden game, as well as multiple stories. But I just can't stop wondering about the "characters" section though.

I'm not going to support their idiotic decisions and buy a system with no future for 1 game. It reminds me of the people that blindly followed HD-DVD into it's grave and refused to see the writing on the wall.
Because it's the only system which is actively supporting the hobby we are supposed to enjoy. The system isn't dead in the US or UK.

For all of the millions of PS3's out there last generation the highest selling shmup title on the PS3 sold around 18k units. All the talk of hardware units in Japan are absolutely irrelevent if the title has a chance of hitting digitally in the west too.

Equating the Xbox One to a HD-DVD is just moronic.
Thank You. Could not have said it better. The system is selling better than the 360 (in US anyway) it is weak compared to the PS4 that is it. It is not close to dead.

Release 2/25. Physical 7400JPY, download 6800JPY.

DBCS is looking cheap.
The nugget I get out of that is a quantified value of the physical release. Seems about right to me.

Play-Asia has pre orders up: http://play-asia.com/raiden-v/13/707wcd

Also, I know it says that it's region-free, but should I wait until MOSS confirms that themselves? PlayAsia also does not mention the CD soundtrack being offered with the first print run, so I'm wondering if I should go ahead and pre order my copy now, or should I wait? However, I don't want to wait too long because I want to get a first print copy with the soundtrack. Any advice is appreciated.

Point is more that the system is very dead here in Japan (the 360 really never was, just niche), and the game in question is a Japanese game that is primarily aimed at a niche Japanese audience.

Where it may have sold semi-decently in Japan (for a shmup) on the PS4 (or really anything other than the XBO) only the very truest of fans would ever buy that system to play it here. I'm not really joking when I say you would be buying the system only for that game; the library is virtually non-existent here. The system doesn't even look like it's being supported anymore.

It could be argued that Raiden has more name recognition in the West so it doesn't matter, but shit, we are the community and target audience for it, and look how many members here are planning to jump at an XBO for this game.

As for the Microsoft is the only company that truly loves us teenage fanboy crap, just keep in mind Microsoft was the one that wanted to tie your physical copies to a single console to make sure you never truly owned a thing you bought from them. I've got no great love for Sony either, but don't think either company gives a shit about anything other than how much cash they can squeeze from you.

All Xbone (and PS4) games should be region free. I suppose publishers will still be able to lock it if they really want to, though, like Atlus USA did with Persona Arena on the PS3. So I wouldn't be 100% certain, just 99.9%.

Both PS4/X1 are region free consoles. Also thanks for the link!

Can't answer the region-free question, but I would suggest a different (better) retailer, with a lower price too:
http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail ... ME-0015565
If first release copies all have a soundtrack, it will be included here.
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up on the lower price! Now if you don't mind, I have never purchased anything from a foreign country, so I have a few questions. Will PayPal automatically convert my payment in USD to JPY? Also, is EMS the shipping option I should pick? Thanks

PayPal will convert, there is actually a setting deep inside PayPal which will use PayPal's conversion rate and not your banks's rate. In my case the bank's rate is a lot better. Use EMS for peace of mind and trackability.

Should change the thread title to 2016.

Definitely getting a Caladrius vibe from those screenshots, which I suppose is unsurprising really.

I cannot find a source that shows what xbox360 games (disc/dig) will work on an xbox ONE elite (JAP CONSOLE). Can someone point me in the right direction if such info exists yet?

I do not think any shmups are working yet. If CAVE says yest then I no longer need to buy a JP360 and will just use my US X1.

I think the continued responses have outed him as a typical system wars fanboy who we are wasting our time arguing with.

The "must better choice of exclusives" "lack of investment in firsrt party titles" (opinions presented as facts) blah blah blah comments pretty much proves this has nothing to do with this genre or niche games and instead points to someone who is insecure because his console of choice isn't doing well enough.

I've made my points and I'm out.
I own all of the consoles thanks. Just looking forward to playing a new shmup instead of being a strawman.

If past backwards compatibility features are any indication (PS2, PS3, etc.), this plan might not work. In the event that the X1 BC feature works the same way, the 360 games will be subject to the same region lock restrictions regardless of what console you run it on, and the X1 being region-free will only apply to X1 games.

Hopefully some of the JP 360 retail shmups will become BC, and we can find this out for ourselves. But the low X1 sales in Japan are not helping to make a case for putting in that effort.

Probably pre-ordering Raiden V from AmiAmi today. I'm only a casual fan of the series, but I feel that I should support anyone actually bringing a shmup to Japanese X1 despite the awful market.

I appreciate the one girl holding up five fingers so none of us get confused about the game's title.

Kawaii~

So we have multiple Raiden ships (each with a pilot and manufacturer of a different nationality) and branching stages
Sounds cool

You can "Cheer" players who are playing and it boosts some gauge for a special attack. I guess you better do runs when lots of people are on if you want a good score.

So I was right, there will be characters! Seems like this game has a lot of first time features for the series. Characters, story, actual countries being mentioned, a shield meter, and AT LEAST 30 STAGES!!! (that I managed to count in the list). Lastly, but not least, holy shit that music was awesome! It sounds like Yoshimi Kudo gave the music a harder rock tone but still managed to stay true to the Raiden vibe! SO FUCKING HYPED FOR THIS!!! 8)
