I don't feel like any are unfair anymore. I've died so many times that i have all counters for no weapons. It's just a matter of time before each level becomes comfortable.Mortificator wrote:Yeah, that's how I do it too. Bydo usually drops a few seconds after he spits out the third spinning thing.
That's not really necessary in this series. You're pretty much ready for anything after one speed-up and two laser crystals, and you can get those shortly after any checkpoint. The only unfair one, in my opinions, is the stage 5 midpoint.antares wrote:Yeah absolutely. If there were a powerup select at the beginning I could have finally the chance of practicing stages 7 and 8 and have the slight hope of 1CCing it once...Elixir wrote:I think including a stage select without allowing you to start with certain powerups was a bad idea and practically defeats the purpose of stage select.

When he said 'real' I think he meant the ability to have the game change to a specific track during each stage.yyr wrote:All 360 games have the same custom soundtrack support, AFAIK. That stage has always been a pain in the neck, although I can do it in practice, I usually bottle it during a full run. It seems easier than the cab I used to play it on back in the early 90s though. Similar situation with stage 6 in RT1, though the graphic detection on that stage is awful.Klatrymadon wrote:I'm having much more trouble than I should be with R-Type II's fifth stage. Used to know it really intimately! Anyone else finding the 1CC a slightly more daunting prospect than they'd anticipated?

I found this interview from one of the developers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc0_21HOSYo
They had to rebuild the games from scratch with no source code to reference... pretty dedicated.

Then again, coding shoot em ups (especially low paced like R-Type) isn't exactly the hardest thing to code.ZacharyB wrote:I found this interview from one of the developers:

That being said, I am eagerly waiting for this game.
The biggest bug in the game (force not damaging enemies by touch) is too hard to fix, apparentlylemonade wrote:Then again, coding shoot em ups (especially low paced like R-Type) isn't exactly the hardest thing to code.ZacharyB wrote:I found this interview from one of the developers:
