Official Muchi-Muchi Pork! [Cave 2007] thread

No dude Mushi is the hardest game ever, doesn't matter whether it's original or maniac. It's the only shmup where I have to re-focus my eyes between the entire screen and RIGHT on my player sprite, because for some reason I cannot naturally tell where my hitbox is. It takes like half a second to re-focus so I just die. I can get to the 4th stage on DOJ pretty often, but I have never seen stage 4 in Mushi on 1 credit, and I have only reached the stage 3 boss once in either maniac or original. That game is really hard.TWE wrote:If you guys want an easy Cave game, just play Mushi's original mode. If it's still too hard for you set the difficulty to "very easy".

Oh and Dandy J, Mushi isn't hard. You must have some eye problems. See a doctor!

For me, Ibara is by far the hardest Cave game.
I've gotten to stage 4 on Ibara, and while that game is a bitch, I never felt I got cheated when I got killed. I still have a harder time with Mushi.superyoups wrote: Euh, have you ever played Ibara ?? Cause this is a hard game, mushi a walk in a parc compare to it.

Sorry Rando, I stopped reading this thread around page 6 and just caught up.Randorama wrote:I'm totally sold, I want it now! (sorry Iatneh!)
Let's see what else there was... tons of animations? So I suppose no PS2 port, suckers.
And difficulty... I'll probably get killed anyway. Let's just say BulletMagnet has higher scores and further stage reached than me in almost every high score table I've posted in.
And the booth babes. Hot damn!

Looks like the easiest game cave ever made. What the hell?
I need a cave game I can 1cc (instead of just getting killed at the third level.) Allright, BRING IT ON!!!!

oooooh denied!!
in all seriousness tho, no gameplay assumptions can be made until the game is complete. besides, if it's easy on "normal" just crank it up to "instadeath" mode and suck plasma bullets.
i'm looking forward to seeing how this game pans out, i am more prone that think that a cute-em-uppy shooter is prone to be less difficult than a serious genre game.
Well Pink Sweets is damn cute but it's also damn hard. MMP is being made by Yagawa (and perhaps Ikeda). I really don't see how it's going to be 'easy' unless there's a specific "easy mode" in the game. NTSC-J, one of the few people here to have actually played the game, already commented that if you start medalling the game gets brutal by the second or third stage.bay wrote: i'm looking forward to seeing how this game pans out, i am more prone that think that a cute-em-uppy shooter is prone to be less difficult than a serious genre game.
Just got back from playing more Muchi Pork. There were a few changes from the AOU version and all for the better.
First, this one had the whole game rather than just the first three stages like AOU MMP. I was happy to be the first player in all the land to get to stage 4 (dunno what was with the guys at HEY today...they sucked bad for the most part).
The changes to the gameplay involved the medal value when dropped. Rather than getting knocked back to 100 when you've dropped a 10k medal (i.e. Raizing), this time it'll go down to just 1k. If you drop a 3k medal, it'll go down to 300, etc. I think they made this change after seeing how much easier it was to lose medals in this game (expect huge points from this one).
I also noticed the rank not being quite as severe. I saw players dying and avoiding medals and the game was still pretty harsh. Still, when I was rocking huge chunks of pork gold the game pushed me right back. This is not an easy one, I promise. I think we should all be used to the fact that the first two stages of any Cave game generally aren't too mean, it's stage 3 and up that it gets hairy.
Since I could hear the music now, I can say confidently that it sucks, except for the kickass boss theme.
I know many people are upset that this isn't another military macho shooter, but if you can ignore the humor you'll find a very fun game. It's really a blast to play and very satisfying when you're scoring well. This is unfortunately my last day in Japan so I won't be playing the finished product for some time, but I look forward to the day when I can add the game to my library.

Thank you for your impressions on this! For me it will probably be another few years for me to get my hands on it to try it out. Do you think it has potential to be ported?NTSC-J wrote:Just got back from playing more Muchi Pork. There were a few changes from the AOU version and all for the better.

I've coined new phrases as "chunks of pork gold" and "muchi muchi-cally"!BulletMagnet wrote:I can't help but wonder if this phrase had ever been used in the English language (or any language) at any point in history up until you typed that.NTSC-J wrote:rocking huge chunks of pork gold

not so bad. there were usually about 3 in the queue yesterday, it increased to around 4 tonight. that's quite a long time though as most players end their games somewhere between the third and fourth bosses, and I'm not sure the game is interesting enough to justify such a long and boring wait.GaijinPunch wrote:What were the lines like? This game looks great, we need more cute or unusual looking shooters. Not just the usual dreary ambiguous style most shooters are these days.
The main thing is thank fuck the characters in the game aren't more annoying, apathetic, moody anime characters. We'd like some personality please.

So I went to see the game again while the HEY was less busy and I know a little more about it now. This game has a lot of milking potential; There are a number of mid sized enemies that release drones that can be destroyed for lard power, also bosses have multiple parts that can be milked for drones. NTSC-J wasn't kidding about the rank in this game - it's shocking. There was a guy playing yesterday who very cleverly targeted single enemies with lard to get his medals up to max value before the first midboss, but then the rank became so bad (especially the first boss, very nasty) he lost all his lives by the start of stage 2, and he looked like a very skilled player. Although this game isn't an obvious winner like Mushi Futari I think it could go down well with Raizing fans.
