Even I've hit St6 of Katana on one credit. Promptly dies as I thought there were only five stages and was doing my little victory dance when. St6 started.

The bullet patterns in AK are really hard, but in arcade mode you can spend 80%+ of the game invincible if you know when you can get your option point blank to bosses/enemies.
Dimahoo is a fun game.

I have to chime in with the ease of 1CCing Death Smiles. I got off work early today and headed to a Sega game center in town I haven't been to before. I was pleased to find Death Smiles right next to Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystaria. 100 yen gave two credits. I 1CCd the game with Sakyura (I think that's her name... the witch who looks like Maria from Sakura Taisen) and scored 28,668,489. With the second game, I played Casper and 1CCd it again, but with only 18,182,861 points. I think I played this game after it first came out in Japan, and the last time I played it was a few years ago on my bud's 360 (I don't own any current gen game systems). On top of that, while playing the game the second time through, the left direction shooting button stopped responding half the time. Often I had to smack it 3 times before it started shooting left. I chose at random the levels 1-3, but I did not choose the level 999 (I bet that's more akin to a typical Cave game).

So yeah, if a schmuck like me can 1CC this game twice in a row, I'd say most people can.

You were playing the Megablack version actually which is even easier to clear (if you keep the levels down and skip the ex stages).

How can you tell? Is the life bar longer in the Megablack version? I actually thought it was a bit too easy.

You said you played as Sakura, who was added in MBL as playable.

Oh, thanks. I haven't played this game in a long time. Yeah, playing with Sakyura made it real easy because of her multidirectional options.

So, CAVE's japanese homepage got a complete overhaul.
http://www.cave.co.jp/

There's a big pulsating CAVE logo and if you click it, you get a small stupid game.
Not that interesting, but the game starts with:

and ends with

is this a sign...?????????

I like the new design.
Personally, I wouldn't bet too much on it. And the U was bouncing so much around, it made me feel drunker.

Wow it looks awful. I guess it seems fitting to the F-tier mobile phone company they are now.

Noticed the order on the Games page: Mobile - Console - PC - Arcade

And on the English page: Mobile - Console - PC

I'd be really surprised if we ever got any more arcade shmups. Any word from the devs that supposedly moved over to M2?

The end of this year sure is turning out to be a busy one unlike the boring summer we just had. Cave is continuing its mobile route of excluding westerners with this:

I still haven't had a chance to play donpachin and gothic princess!

The whole "mass exodus from CAVE" thing turned out to be an exaggeration, but I did discover the whereabouts of a few people:

http://tanoshimasu.com/

TANOSHIMASU Co., Ltd. is a new 4-person studio with some names you might recognise: Hiroyuki Kimura (producer/director on Akai Katana Shin, DDP Max, Nin2-Jump, project manager on SDOJ X360, used to run the old CAVE blog), Yugo Fujioka (programmer on Akai Katana Shin, SDOJ X360, DDP MAX) and Hiroyuki Tanaka (backgrounds on lots of games, ship design on Ketsui & DFK, enemy design on DOJ).

You can see pictures of their upcoming debut game on their blog page: it's called "Red and Blue (Aka to Blue)" and it's a mobile STG that... doesn't look like Ketsui or DFK, let's put it that way.

They're localising Mahou Otome now, you'll get to try it soon enough. Donpaccin is dead.

That's a polite way to phrase it.

Can't say I'm impressed. :?

It looks a lot like Flying Red Barrel.

I'm not "impressed", but I'm not against the style either.
This style is just good for a mobile game. It actually looks pretty pleasing

Well it's a bit ironic, though.

Most of Cave staff left and create their own studio, Ikeda began interested in Visual Novel games, Cave director is a corrupter. At least they still have Yagawa, so.....

For a mobile game I'd give it a try. Also, why are we bumping this thread?
