CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Regardless of their recycled product marketing practices, I would happily buy these games 4 times over to support Cave. I own every game on 360 and am still in the running to get this collection.
Definitive Cave collection of all time? No. Definitive Xbox 360 Cave collection? Absolutely, and who knows what the future of Cave will be, especially without the support of their fans.

Ok, that was a slight exaggeration. Look, I don't like the way they rehash releases any more than you guys, but if the alternative is for Cave to simply vanish, then I don't mind supporting them by snatching up a Cave's Best / Limited / Platinum / Festival Edition of a release every once in a while.Special World wrote: what about 5 times over
And honestly, this package with all of the DLC on disc bundled with superplays looks great. The reality is that many people will probably pick this up and sell off their individual releases anyway, myself included.
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
So...is it really an amazon exclusive?
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
All those LE's in their pretty individual slipcases and accompanying soundtracks, manuals and DLC cards? Only way I'd even consider trading that lot for is if the DLC is truly on-disc and mobile, which is yet to be confirmed. Either way, does it really matter - this is an issue we're all postulating in the now and not allowing for consideration of the future. By the time XBL has run its course I fully expect PC hackers to have either found a way to emulate everything or at least retrieve DLC patches and utilise them freely. There's a good chance MS will simply make most data accessible by then anyway (they'll need to do something to honor the purchases.)mdsfx wrote:Skykid wrote:They know.mdsfx wrote:I would happily buy these games 4 times over to support Cave.Ok, that was a slight exaggeration. By then the likes of Mushi BL will be running on Mame probably better than the 360 ver. anyway.
No-one's thinking ahead, they're all just clambering to get the next re-release because "oh shit, LIMITED, buy it now or gone forever", which has been the primary marketing tactic for just about everything game related since Nintendo started fabricating scarcity with NES releases. Back then you would have killed to get a copy of Zelda from Toys R' Us's miniscule stock deliveries, now you can fit the entire NES catalogue on a cheapo memory stick.
Like they say in Jurassic Park, technology will find a way.

Life not nature.
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
I'm not thinking ahead, I want to play this now, not wait for some hackers to emulate it decades down the road when I'm in the oldfolks home. So I get this convenient package and enjoy while I'm interested. Later I'll stuff SDOJ in the box and put it up on ebay (probably at a $$ loss to myself) for some lucky person so I guess I am thinking ahead after all.
Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
Lol, yeah that was it.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:Life not nature.

Er, that was kind of intended for the guys who own all the shit already and are just unsure about whether to purchase primarily for the on disc DLC. I still think it's a great purchase if you own very few of the bits in the box.hvx wrote:I'm not thinking ahead, I want to play this now, not wait for some hackers to emulate it decades down the road when I'm in the oldfolks home. Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
I could care less about how rare/limited it will be. Most of the appeal is that all of the content is in one neat little package, especially for those of us who only own 1 or 2 limited edition releases and would enjoy owning the soundtracks and super plays. BUT, I won't deny that a small part of me was screaming "new cave stuff!" like a little school girl when I first heard of this... guilty as charged.Skykid wrote:...they're all just clambering to get the next re-release because "oh shit, LIMITED, buy it now or gone forever"

About the future, I think you're right. I'm sure one day this will all be easily accessible to everyone in one form or another, whether it's emulation or a next-gen Cave re-release.

Re: CAVE Shooting Collection X360
So by your logic then no one, not even the most ardent fan, should quite honestly ever buy anything. Because one day down the road there might be a better edition. That's really flawed logic....so you should wait basically forever and never purchase anything because you might have to buy it again to get a "better" version one day. That's a,at best, laughable argument.Skykid wrote:Jesus, you're nuts for even thinking about it.Shelcoof wrote: Honestly all I really wanted the Collection for was the DLC Disc and it was only to have Futari Black Label on Disc format but now that I think about it... not worth it for me. I have all Japanese releases including all the NA releases too... I've actually bought all NA releases twice too.. eeek
You're exactly the reason Cave get away with this over and over. You're 100% the person they created this collection for, so you can buy it all a third time, and then two years from now, buy the next-gen version with all the on-disc interviews and special bonus artbooks. If you need further proof, there's a reason SDOJ isn't in the box: they don't want it to be 'definitive' just yet.
Think 30 years of Microsoft windows and you've got the picture.
Personally I think the Akai Katana LE Special Cave Shop ed. will be worth more than this collection down the line, it's just about the only bespoke thing they've ever released for 360.
Also Windows has nothing to do with this, that's not even a remotely valid comparison. EVERY operating system out there is updated constantly and released in newer editions....Windows, Linux, Mac OS....that's nothing like this.
Additionally you are ignoring the fact that Cave, nor any shmup developer, has EVER released a collection similar to this. So what that it's missing 1 game (3 if you count the 5pb titles)?!?! You also act like Cave will be around for 30 years...given that Cave themselves came from the ashes of other shmup-houses, with none of their previous products being available, that's pretty absurd to ignore the fact that with the downturn their company has taken in the last couple of years financially that they might not exist a year from now. There's a very good chance that we never see a single Cave title on the PS4/X720. That's the reality of the situation. And that's the core of the flaw in your argument. Because those of us who missed out on Toaplan titles the first time around were smart to wait for that PS3 Collecti....oh, wait a minute. Guess that didn't happen. Well I guess I'll just download Batsugun on XBLA/PSN...oh gee wizz, that didn't happen either. See how you argument falls to pieces.
All this "Cave is gonna milk you" mantra does is weaken your stance. How many times have they released Ibara? People begged all gen for a 360 port and it didn't happen. Mushihime was released again on 360, but so what? That doesn't take away from the enjoyment anyone had with the PS2 version and with the differences between the two there's no reason not to own both versions if you're a big enough fan. And who's to say that a future version will be the better version, that's pure, baseless speculation on your part. For example Elevator Action Returns, the Saturn version is arcade perfect. The later versions for PC, PS2, and Xbox in the Taito Legends/Memories releases are off. There's no guarantee that these games are releasing again on future consoles. You can be fairly sure that Squaresoft will try to reissue every FF title as much as they can in every console gen to come as long as they stay in business given their previous history. But Cave is not Square, and to even declare that someone shouldn't buy a Square game because a better version will be on PS5 would be an absurd claim. However you apparently have omniscient knowledge of the future regarding such things.

And you think the Cave Shop version of Akai Katana will be the most limited item from this gen? Why, because you bought 12 simply because it came in a PCB box? Yeah...ok. Thanks for proving all my claims about the people here who pretend to be "hardcore". You pick at others because they want a collection that includes a special bound book version of the manuals, the DLC on a disc, 10 OST Cds, 7 Superplay DVDs, and the games themselves but you think AK is the most likely to be collectible because it came in a cardboard box? You must be giving one of the mods free bjs to get away with this nonsense.
I also like how you champion future Mame versions in your other comments. So basically you are saying "don't support the developer financially now when you can steal their games later!". In other words you have now rendered everything you say irrelevant because you are promoting piracy of Cave's products rather than supporting them! Case closed, you're done. Nothing you say has any merit anymore. You're like Mike Tyson claiming not to be a rapist. You're irrelevant and nothing you say enhances this forum or anything in the world.
Out of curiosity why aren't you banned? Please stop talking NOTHING you say has credibility anymore. You are EXACTLY what I said at the start, a piece of crap who can only afford a used copy of Deathsmiles covered in Gamestop stickers. I just didn't realize at the time that your only other Cave titles are stolen via Mame. Do the world a favor and just go die somewhere quietly. No really, you have NOTHING left to say as you have negated your right to debate with people who financially support developers that you steal from.
Why? because some piece of shit pirate on a webforum has tried to brow beat you out of buying something you want because he can't afford it? That's absurd. Don't pass on something you want because of some digital-butt-pirate. The only reason to hate yourself is if you give in to stupidity. And what if Cave doesn't survive long enough to release the Skykid approved Uber-Ultimate-Cave-Shooting-Collection on PS5/Xbox 1080 that includes everything Cave ever made which apparently Skykid has the prescient knowledge of? You'll be seriously pissed at yourself for passing this up because someone on a web forum told you to; especially given that you're being dissuaded by a pirate who'd rather ensure that Cave go out of business by stealing their product rather than buying it.Shelcoof wrote:lol I know... and the sad part is... I really suck at all the games tooSkykid wrote: Jesus, you're nuts for even thinking about it.
Blah, blah, blah, Bullshit, bullshit, I am a poor bastard who likes to steal from others, blah, blah
I hate myself......
Consider this; If someone who spent $200 a weekend drinking told you that you were wasting your money on stupid shooting games for kids wouldn't you laugh at what a waste of humanity that person was? Wouldn't you consider them an utter fool? Wouldn't you completely ignore their divergent values and laugh at the fact that they think you wasted money? How is Skykid the Mame-Thief any better than that kind of moron? Worst case, buy it and if you decide you don't want it sell it. There's no way you'll lose money, the as-of-yet unconfirmed region encoding of each title is irrelevant; there's nearly $800 worth of super Play DVDs and OSTs in the set alone and the fact that it's looking to be Amazon Japan exclusive is going to make it very hard to obtain.

Well i sure hope cave releases an orgy of info soon, because no one seems to know anything about this besides the general contents.
