I think that's the ship from Radiant Silvergun, not Ikaruga.

SAM, I think that BrianC's av is actually one of the girls from Saber Marionette. Yeah, total ripoff. But it's not Lina.

Looks like some kinda tribal mask...which tribe, I have no clue, heh heh. I guess it really is an "Unidentified Object"...but is it Flying?
Since it seems nobody will be claiming my avatar...

It's an african mask called KpleKple (say ple fast twice) made by the Baule people from the Ivory Coast. It's the only african mask I've seen that has a creepy-cute look to it and the only that's used to scared the sh*t out of little kids. You see, hitting kids is not kosher for the Baule so when they've had enough of the little bastards, they'll wear the thing and visit them during bedtime.

It's the most awesome mask ever. It's so awesome I made it my avatar.

PS I wonder how the Baule deal with wet beds.

It's a platform game, but you spend about half of the time swimming underwater. It feels a bit like the Kirby games: It's very easy, but it never gets boring, due to the creativity of the levels and bosses. In fact, it's quite addictive. I played through the first Stafi game a while ago. Currently I'm enjoying part 2 and have part 3 on its way to me. I'm also looking very forward to Stafi 4 on the DS. Great games, highly recommended.

They're actually in Langrisser V as well but the process to reaching their secret scenario is just as obscure. But that portrait is the Langrisser II in-game portrait.

Changes up to this Point...

Shmups Related:

SAM +6
oxtsu +3
Herr Schatten +3
Acid King +2
zinger +2
theevifunkster +2
sven666 -1
SFKhoa -1

Finding 11 avatars and got 3 of them wrong, end up only got +5 points...

Non-Shmups Related:

SPecineff +2
Herr Schatten +2
SAM -1

Other Change:

The +2 point awards to BrianC due to correcting Seven Force is moved from Shmups Tables to the Non-Shmups Table, since Stafi is not a shmups.

KpleKple happens to be the son of Goli, the Baule's god of punishment. I'd be scared if the son of the devil came for me. Also, the KpleKple mask has horns, but I cut 'em off because they take too much space, and we have a 80 by 80 limit here.

This is a pretty darn fine piece. I've seen many of the crappy ones (like the one my prof had...)

Here, seemed a good time to change avatar. Now you can tell which episode I truly worship in the series :-D

Cpt. Ahar, the Blue Lander is pretty much spawned among all Compile's games. More info at http://kelesis.free.fr/, and HG101 of course.

A bunch of Compile games have him in there someplace...I remember seeing him in Space Megaforce and Zanac Neo as well. I don't know the exact subtle differences of how he's displayed from game to game though.

I just would like to add the useless fact that Blue Lander original name is Randar .

I used to have a crying Randar as an avatar back when Compile went bankrupt.

I think it's a character from Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princesse. I forget his name though.

Your avatar always throws me off. I see "SAM" and I think of Sam & Max because the avatar looks like a bunny - but it's the wrong bunny if it even is a bunny.

What a nice collection of broken links :D
Anyway, mine is pretty coherent too. Too bad I named the image in a pretty straightforward way so it's no game :/

That should fix itself whenever the DNS update goes through, but I've gone ahead and fixed the links on the second page. Can't do anything about the links broken due to recent avatar changes though.

a little update on mine.

interestingly, the "bonus" characters in both Matt and my avatars also make appearances in other games.

in the comic JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, from part IV of the series, there's a Stand called "Pearl Jam"

I guess those masks were the inspiration.

Actually, It was Lina Inverse from Slayers. SAM is correct. I just changed it, though. Can you guess where the new avatar is from?
