The only thing you can get are these shitty "best of" compilations. There's two volumes. I guess licensing issues prevent the whole thing from happening. Maybe look around the bit torrents, someone HAS to have these somewhere. Even the shorts where they would just take a clip from Iria or some other anime and put in their own made up dialogue is better than ninety percent of the crap that's on tv today. Stick Figure Theater >>>>>>>>>>>> any reality show.

Was The Head ever released on DVD? The series was atrocious but the mini-series from MTV Oddities was beyond awesome. Same with The Maxx.
i have the head MTV oddities version on VHS (yeah its that old), its awesome :D i also have a bunch of home-recorded maxx VHSes :P (sin city can just drop dead in comparison!)

and youre absoluteley right about LT, man i wish there were proper DVD collections for this stuff.

I liked Liquid Television until it lost its variety and played only Aeon Flux, and maybe one or two other continuing series. Before that, you didn't know what to expect. I think Beavis & Butthead's "Frog Baseball" first appeared on L.T.

Duck Tales (WOO-ooo!), the greatest cartoon ever IMO. The DVD set of the first season just came out, and it's at the top of my Christmas wishlist.

I think Seinfeld, the X-Files, and Freaks and Geeks rank up there too.

Not ashamed to admit that I like Friends too.

Fair point. Apart from football and random cartoon viewing, there are very few shows I watch. In the past five years there are only four or five shows that I watched every episode of:

Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Office
Sopranos
Six Feet Under

Has anyone actually bothered to watch Deadwood on HBO? I have avoided it, well, because it's a western, but people I trust have told me that the writing and acting are amazing. The few times I've caught it, it did seem really first-rate. But I had no idea what was going on.

Nip/Tuck
Over There(hopefully it doesn't get cancelled)
Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Seinfeld
The Office(American version, I can't stand Rick Gervais)
My Name is Earl
The Boondocks
Family Guy

Yeah that's about it.

Yup, Beavis and Butthead as well as Aeon Flux started out as shorts on Liquid Television. Originally Beavis and Butthead consisted solely of them watching a video. Then as Liquid Television gained some popularity they used it as a testing ground for potential regular series, Beavis and Butthead and Aeon Flux being the ones that made the cut.

WPIX did something similar with the "Action Pack," They made four Tek World movies, Vanishing Son, Hercules, and Space Precinct. The most popular ones got regular series.

But man Liquid Television, you have no idea how much I love a good animated production from the western hemisphere. It's so rare though. :(

My sentiments exactly. That's why every show I bothered to list was cancelled some time in the 80s. Except Twilight Zone which was cancelled in the 60s. One hugely noteworthy new show that I love enough to have the main characters tattooed on my flesh that I should have mentioned is Beavis and Butthead. Changed my life.

To my mind, Extras is a bit disappointing. The writing is not at the level of The Office and the supporting cast is a bit nowhere. Ricky Gervais was perfect for the role in the Office, but his versatility as a comic actor is questionable. So my own take is that you don't want to go way out of your way to see Extras.

I was so hooked on this show.

The Jeffersons was great as well.

It's such a shame that, while sitcoms were always stupid and have had their plots recycled since at least the late fifties, the acting talent nowadays is completely gone. The older sitcom actors had timing and body language to spare, great stuff.

animation:
Family Guy
Rocko's Modern Life
2 Stupid Dogs
Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky & The Brain, Animaniacs
Digimon: Season Three
Voltron
Liquid Television (anime Michael Jackson...HA!)
Danger Mouse

CSI
Law & Order: SVU
The Shield
Two and a Half Men

MTV AMP (this show actually got me into electronic music in general, and was the first time I'd heard Drum & Bass. I think the video was by Ed Rush & Optical?)
In Living Color
The Wayans Bros.
New York Undercover

for nostalgia's sake:
You Can't Do That On Television!
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Fawlty Towers
Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (that show was just so friggin' cheesy sometimes)
The Honeymooners
American Gladiators (..shut up. XD)
The A-Team
Starcade
the old Match Game
Press Your Luck
Married...With Children (quite simply one of the best sitcoms ever)
80s era Soul Train
Remote Control (...hell old-school MTV as a whole)
21 Jump Street

I KNOW I'm missing a few.

In random order here's my top 5 ever tv series:

Bottom (biggest laughs I ever had).
The Simpsons (should be a "given" for everyone).
Monty Python's Flying Circus (THE Classic!)
Seinfeld (absolutely brilliant satire on the abnormalness of ordinary life!)
Southpark (yes some shows suck really hard, but the good ones more than make up for those!)

I guess some pretty "standard" choices, but hey: what's good is REALLY good imho!

Honorable mention for the Dutch tv series: Vrienden voor het leven (in english: Friends for Life)! :D
Barroom hero!
Bathroom hero!

I dont watch TV too much. Even less sitcom or series or whatever, as I don't have cable TV, and most of them is aired only on cable TV. (Here in Brazil, soap operas are more popular).

Anyway, I used to enjoy The Simpsons a lot, but I havent wathced it for ages.

And I love South Park. Brilliant stuff.

ANd the 1st season of 24 was pure gold. I cant remember anything that was produced for TV being as good as that. I never before in my life rushed home to not miss a TV show.

Here at my home my sister seems to love OC. My mom likes it too, but I think she watches it more because after OC they air Smallville, and she loves Smallville.

Another shout for the A-Team here, and not from a nostalgia point of view either. They simply don't make brash, over-the-top kids TV like that anymore and it's a shame.

Erm... don't watch too much TV any more myself, but I'd go with:

Blackadder 2
Bottom (Especially 'Chess')
Ren & Stimpy

The League Of Gentlemen - so bizarre everyone should see at least one episode.

also eagerly awaiting the new series of Little Britain which starts tonight, can't wait as I thought the first two were the funniest things in years.

I've never seen a whole episode of News Radio. I should change that. My little brother raves about it (when Hartman was on there anyway).
