On-topic, I just don't think action games with a high skill ceiling or that really ask the player to put a lot into them at some point such as arcade shooters attract many females for whatever reason. It can be seen in a lot of other genres besides shooters too. Even more seemingly non-threatening games like Puzzle League or Puyo Puyo don't seem to really have a significant female presence at their highest play levels (at least from my observation). And puzzle games are often thought to be one of the more popular genres among women. Of course this could all just really be a reflection of the general lesser interest in video games among women too though.

Does it seem like 2D shooters stand out in their lack of female interest or is it really not that different from other genres?

And my concern is staving off a repeat of the overly-sexist and highly-offensive comments that led to me and others getting modded in the first place.
This thread subject is a potential breeding ground for such ignorant stupidity, often coming from long-standing members of the community. If you don't like the moderation style, there are other places you can go. As far as I'm concerned, it is warranted, and it'd be wise not to push my buttons on this subject.

This was me. We met when I visited Ebisen with TTH, Keiko and Mathieu in November 2014 to meet up with SOF-WTN and Clover-TAC, and to chat with Ebi-tencho.
She's pretty good, able to 2-ALL Progear and Ketsui Omote. When I was there, she told me she was working on Futari God, which I got to see first-hand.
There are also a number of female gamers that frequent Hey, one of whom is a Garegga player - not Kamui, lol, although they're both good friends - that can clear the game with Golden Bat.
