I recently No Missed the first loop. This is not that run, this is a different run that 1 missed the first loop and got slightly further in Loop 2 and beat the run I did get the No Miss on by about 40k. Yes, I will learn Loop 2 and go for the 2-ALL eventually.

X-36
A7A | 981,600 | 2-2 - 1P - MAME

For some reason I always stayed away from this game, thought it much worse than the first two entries in the series, but now that some time has passed and I've been away from Strikers (and Psikyo in general), I kinda like it. :D Helps that X-36 makes the game relatively easy, as well.

Got the 1-all and every tech bonus with X-36 but only managed to brute-force my way through the 6th and 7th bosses with Stealth. I'll come back at some point for the clear with that ship. It's pretty fun but also infuriating without a proper route ^^

Come by just sending you a warning: During practice, when using savestate you have to enter the code everytime you try to exit and relaunch the game. I use mame4droid 2024 and X-36 then each time i relaunch the game i forgot to enter the code, it encounters malfunction and green screen when the high score shows up. I re-practising the game from the beginning again, try to enter the code before loading savestates, it turns to normal.

Maybe too late now that you've already set up states, but I use a patch by KMH that unlocks the X-36 without having to enter the code.

Figured I should mention it here in general for any future players of this game. It's great if you just want to record demos without the worry of desyncs.

Unfortunately i've tried to download the patch but without instructions video, the roms end up being "wrong checksum" and there's no way i can avoid it

I remember save-stating the first loop of the game (for a "full" medal chain) about 14 years ago or so. Maybe I have forgotten but, as I re-call now, I don't remember needing to re-enter the code or anything for the secret plane [when loading a save-state that is].

So perhaps it is something related to newer emulator versions. Or perhaps I don't remember this above mentioned point [about re-entering the code every time] very well.

Ty!
Shmupmame broke for me at some point, and regular Mame has 1 extra frame of input lag for later Psikyo (2 extra for early).
With runahead in Retroarch you can get the same lag as Shmupmame (i.e none).
Probably also better doing it this way since you don't get the graphical glitches from the weird hacks that Shmupmame uses to reduce the lag.

Congrats, Plasmo!

I guess we will see more often in the future that players will explore the less popular ships of these old games to increase their longevity.
At least at this forum, the standard has always been to pick the highest-scoring one.

That's more like it! Remain bonus was Lx2 Bx0 if I remember correctly. There's stil much greater potential to uncover.

Thanks DMC! That would be very exciting! I really like the idea of exploring the underpowered and less played ships and I can only encourage other players to do so, too! Since there aren't too many replays floating around, there's still an incredible amount of freedom to create new routes and develop your own ideas.
