I thought I won't be witnessing CAVE on steam in this life... But I'm so happy to see them finally take action.

Hope they get the slowdown right when doing SH3 titles.

Who is doing the porting? Degica is just a publisher, so I'm wondering...
Hi Teufel_in_Blau,
Cave staff members are developing Steam version.
I hope this is the good porting.
We Degica will promote PC Shmups scene.

Somebody knows that I was gaming journalist in this June.
Now I joined Deginca, working as a game publishing manager.
I love Shmups sure things, so I do best at these section.

Great news! Hoping we get some of the games that never received a 360 port.

Using XP makes you a bad person, they shouldn't even be near a network connection anymore.

Figures, right after I buy a 360 with the sole purpose of playing shmups on it, Steam releases of Eschatos and Cave games are announced.

Here's to hoping they eventually get around to stuff that's region locked or somewhat rare, like Mushi or Espgaluda 2.

In general, though, this is great news for anyone striving to popularize the genre. Instead of needing to import physical releases for a particular console or having to mess around with MAME, beginners will now simply be able to buy the games on Steam at an approachable price point, as they will presumably run fine on toasters and shitty laptops alike.

Well, it's been officially published in the West by Playism, and I reckon they'd love to release it on Steam as well, so the only thing standing in the way of that at the moment is likely ZUN's general obstinacy.

Espgaluda 2 is region free and cheap if you buy the platinum release. I got it for around $30 new.

No doubt. I'm not too worried, as I figure gsync will at least make the ports as responsive as the 360 versions on my own setup, but we'll need to do some traditional monitor testing before people start making loud baseless proclamations.

Hahaha I'm with you. My NTSC-J X360 kicked the bucket last year and bought a new one just this past March. While I'm more than glad to own the hard copies, it still sucks to know that these will all be finally localized properly and might end up rebuying them all. Specially if they include extra features. My wallet weeps.

Good to see Cave take their heads out of their asses for once. To Degica: thanks for making this happen and if things go well please get them to port Ibara Kuro, Dangun Feveron, and all those other titles from them we never got to see in consoles.

The purple stuff on the sides is bullets!
I get it now. It sorta made me think of a colonoscopy, but bullets makes more sense.

inb4 it's a port of Mahou Otome

In all seriousness though I don't think CAVE would be that dumb, but on the other hand their ports aren't known for being the greatest, and I don't think they've ever developed for PC (Deathsmiles 2 being the closest they've gotten). I'm not expecting more than straight ports of the already-existing Xbox 360 titles, with whatever flaws they may have and possibly more. Here's to hoping they do a good job, though!
