Also, something's gone wrong: now when I'm trying to respond to a legitimate pm, the forum software substitutes the user I want to respond to with another user, and also prints, "You tried to send a private message to too many recipients."

I was just reading the thread and then just got an PM from "sage" with a What's up with Neo-Geo forum ?!.

So add sage to the list of people to ban.
Some people are just stupid, why sit and create new acount just to spam shit nodbody gonna read??

You'd think people would have better things to do, but apparently not. With STGT approaching we've been getting lots of new legitimate users and more can be expected so I don't want to disable new registrations completely (until the forum software is updated, anyway), but if the spam just keeps on coming it might be a viable option.

If you reply to a PM sent to multiple users, it reduces the message to one name. In my case if I try to respond to a PM from Person A to Myself and Person B, the reply is automatically addressed to Person B.

This guy is getting out of hand; IP ban please. I've just gotten the same email from 2 different user accounts in like 15 mins. He seems to just register a new account every time one gets locked.

We're also getting lots of legitimate new members due to STGT, I'd hate to block the forum from them, especially since I can't yet say when the forum upgrade will take place.

Most likely it's because I deleted the accounts (which also deletes their undelivered PMs) before you had a chance to log in and read the messages.

Indeed, that was the case. I didn't at first realize that the PM I was replying to was multicast. Then again, the forum should default to the original sender and not one of recipients, but now that I know about this quirk it's not too inconvenient.

I think it has less to do with defaulting and more with how the system handles the one user restriction when doing a multi user reply. I think it just tries to add both and keeps the latter, which would be the cc. Only reason I realized was because of STGT planning.
